1st Round, Pick 24: Lions Select CB Terrion Arnold, Alabama

Draft fans never like to lose picks, I’m the same. And a 3rd was probably a bad deal.

But sometimes it’s worth it. The most important thing a GM can have is faith in his evaluations. Brad has that in spades. So if he thought Arnold was worth the move, then I’m with him. (And for the record I’ve always said Arnold was the most likely trade up, he fits us too well from a football character perspective, which means a lot to our FO).

The Lions recently held a pre-draft visit with Arnold, and have also spent considerable time with him at Alabama’s pro day and the NFL Scouting Combine. Moving up to select Arnold would almost certainly mean jumping ahead of the Indianapolis Colts at No. 15 overall; the CB-needy Colts and Arnold have been a very popular pairing since the combine in February.

What would that cost the Lions?

A move to No. 14 to deal with the New Orleans Saints would almost certainly cost Detroit No. 29, No. 73 in the third round and next year’s first-round pick, with the Saints perhaps sending back a Day 3 pick this year with No. 14.

Jeremiah had him a 9 and we got him at 23. Sounds Brian Branchy to me. I’ll take it.

You don’t know if other teams were trying to trade up, too. That raises the price. I don’t get why people make blanket statements like this without a single clue on what’s actually going on behind the scenes.

Easy killer. Lotta extreme expressions there my friend. I didn’t even use those 3 letters in the darkest of Lions days, so I’ve never been hopeless in any use of the word. It’s okay for me to have a different opinion than Brad’s - knowing full-well that his is the only one that counts.

I said this today that if we trade up it would be for Terrion. 5 spots? With the board we we’re looking at? And the NFL is all offense? Is our defense PPG gonna go down? It has to. Cartlon Davis. Terrion Arnold. Best defense now. I guess. And again in the LSU game on drags Terrion couldn’t keep up. And he panics at the catch point and grabs. Just what I saw.

As we get better, as the roster gets better, you don’t need those 3rd round picks as badly. You have a chance to get arguably the top rated CB in the draft? Hell yes you move up.

Our best offensive player was a 4th round pick. I want to add offense too, but that doesn’t have to be done in the first.

Did you guys hear the crowd when we took Terrion?? Wow.

Brother, scroll up and watch the video I posted. We might have just found the defensive ARSB. In the first.

Sewell? Decker? Goff? I guess Jameson. Laporta? Ragnow? GIBBS? Jameson would torch Terrion 1v1. And that points to AG and his system and putting CB on islands and they run 4.50 40s.

Well Brad would have asked them both if that happened when they used to practice against each other.

Arnold’s contract should look like this or very similar, per OTC.

I never watched any Terrion film until now…cause I thought we had zero chance to get him…

But I may need a doctor soon

Maybe. No safety help? I watch.the tape. Lsu. Terrion cant stick with their WR on drags. Again, not saying I dont like the player but we panicked and gave up assets for what? The board was looking fantastic for a trade down, not a trade up. We will see. I dont dislike Arnold but this value is not good. Has to be shutdown now.

I can promise you we didn’t panic lol. What happened was, Brad liked Arnold more than you. A lot, apparently. And no offense, but I’ll take his opinion over anyone’s on here.
