That’s what made me go back and take a look. I knew he was stout but I assumed something like 300 pounds with short arms. An overachiever type. 312 with 33 inch arms is far from an overachiever, that’s legit NFL size. I already had him 115th overall based solely on the tape, I think I’ll be bumping up a round-and-a-half or so.
Out of interest did anybody get close with last years draft predictions? Is there a thread on it?
A lot of people called Arnold as one of our main trade-up targets. He was a clear fit for need and grit/motor/mentality. Some people even took him on the draft prediction thread (even though predicting trades is bad gambling grrr).

I’ve seen at least a couple stories online in which people ran into McShay and he was awesome. Friendly, approachable, generous with his time. Which is weird bc his on air affect is sort of prickish frat boy.

He seems like a guy that’s probably chill and a heavy football nerd, but was told to take frequent contrary positions and to be confident and insistent on his views of players. You know, a sort of false bravado for good espn “content”.
It’s one thing to be an a-hole, it’s another to be told to act like an a-hole and look uncomfortable doing it.

Correct. He absolutely comes off that way. But I’ve heard that with athletes quite a bit as well. In particular that a lot of the times the guys that are fun loving with the cameras rolling are complete pricks whereas those suspicious and stand-offish with the media are genuine and kind in person.

I remember McShay a while back insisting that QB from Kentucky was going to be a top 5 pick. As a JR the QB went before the draft board and they gave him a day 3 rating. He was advised to return to school for his SR year. His family had been watching McShay insisting he was a top 5 pick so he entered the draft. I think the Giants took him in the 5th round and the family tried to sue McShay.
The QB was Andre Woodson and the Giants selected him in the 6th roundin 2006.
