I have no idea why I forgot to explicitly mention Tyler Booker for me. I’ve been talking about him for a while now on this board, so let’s make it formal.
Ha, that’s a tough one. I’d expect to either go edge or OL, though if we address those in FA we could go a number of different ways (WR, DL, S… maybe even CB again). If I have to narrow it to 3, my faves would be:
Marcus Mbow, OT/OG, Purdue
Nic Scourton, Edge, Texas A&M
Elic Ayomanor, WR, Stanford
I don’t really expect the first 2 to be there by draft day (Scourton has a better chance of going top ten), and Ayomanor could very well go back to school since he’s only a redshirt sophomore, but this far out those would be my favorite guys.
I actually think he’s more of a Will who can play Mike. Extreme playmaker and one of the few excellent cover guys who isn’t tiny (230+ pounds). Instincts and smarts through the roof, but he won’t wow you taking on blocks (which is why I’d prefer to keep him out of the middle).
Can often mitigate issues getting off blocks by evading the big uglies, but that often opens up a gap for a RB to take advantage of - again, especially in the middle. But he can also dodge out of the way and make plays in the backfield. To me he’s far more impactful as a run and chase guy than a meet-em-head-on LB.
I honestly think he might be my top crush. And he’s be such a good understudy for Anzalone, it’s not like we couldn’t use him around the area he’s currently expected to be drafted. Just have to hope he doesn’t rise too much through the process.
