Believe Dave Winfiedl is another who played in the Minors, just straight to MLB but not sure if it was from HS or college.
Not telling the Tigers what to do, but maybe see what Rainier can do in AA.
At this point the Tigers have absolutely nothing to lose…bring up the young guys

There is a lot of strategy involved in bringing up young players because the team doesn’t want to waste any of their “options” if they need to send them back to the minors… because it can eventually reduce the length of team control for cheap players.
Plus theres only so many 40 man spots. Someone needs to come off when one is added. Its one thing if they are youngsters who have already started their clock vs one who at not 40 man required.
Also if they are added to the 40 man roster they won’t be eligible to play next year should there be a lockout.
If they aren’t added to the 40 man roster they can continue to play minor league ball next year, and continue to develop.
That is a great point.
This may be why we haven’t seen Anderson called up to Detroit. The other guys they brought up this year , not eligible , if there is a lockout.
