We are not far from the era when middling career backup types like Chase Daniel or Case Keenum just stay in school their whole careers and transfer from one school to the next every year, banking their $4-5M, and leading that school to a “run” before doing it all over again.
Because college eligibility was designed to line up with years spent in college, but in the era of NIL is totally arbitrary. And players like Daniel or Keenum (or Chambliss?) will sue for unlimited eligibility, because they’d rather spend their playing careers as starters for college teams getting all the adoration and probably more money than they would in the pros (though Daniel did well for himself, but those prices for QBs are just going up). Better to be a star player in college than a backup in the pros.
