I have always really liked Emmanuel McNeil-Warren. But he’s a deep free safety type first and foremost. Do you think in today’s NFL the idea of running dual Free Safeties out there is worth the tradeoff in run defense? And I don’t think either he or Kerby are liabilities in that regard.
If BB makes it back you can then slide him into the nickel or as many have suggested implement a 3 safety system with BB taking on a lot of WILL responsibilities.
In todays NFL I’m going to think real hard before I draft any DB in the first 2 rounds. They just can’t stay on the field. We seem to have more success just finding healthy ones as free agents or practice squad players. If you have a QB just invest in the O-Line, D-Line and offensive skill players. I would prefer drafting DBs in rounds 3 thru 7, UDFAs, and UFAs on 1 year deals.
I don’t really think the top is meh it’s just that the big four all disappointed to varying extents. Bailey excelled and joined them. I don’t think there is necessary a truly elite guy but I still lean that way with Faulk.
I think they’re pretty good fits with us, but overall I’d say most are late 1st/early 2nd types. Faulk is the one outlier based on the traits, but he really didn’t have a very good year (no one did for Auburn though). Bain was great the first half, subpar the second half, and won’t win the body beautiful competition. Parker was really bad the first 75% of the year before rounding back into form late, though he’s not the traitsiest guy either. Matayo has plenty of juice for a guy that size, but the anchor concerns are real imo.
To me Traore is the one guy who with the traits + production (especially coming off that injury) worthy of going really high, and even that would probably take a good process.
I think I’m quite a bit higher on Faulk than you are. Auburn was a mess this year. He’s a pretty rare specimen and his Sophomore year at age 19 carries a good. It of weight for me. Bain is going to work if he’s stays healthy but I don’t think he’s a true top five pick Edge. I’ve seen quite a few Tamba Hali comps which I somewhat like.
Clemson is a bit like Auburn. Outside of Terrell, none of their premium guys played particularly well. Given his character, finish to the year and preexisting proof of concept I’m in. Though I still think he may go before we pick when it’s all said and done.
Bailey is who I’d most like bc of how he addresses the quick pressure issue but he’ll be long gone and probably isn’t our style.
Faulk was my top guy coming into the year, and he pretty much stayed there all year. I think I’d still take him above the rest. He just didn’t vault into the top 5 for me like I thought/hoped he would. IF Traore declares, he’s the only one who would be in the conversation with Faulk, and in fact would probably end up above him, but I would still need to do a deeper dive.
I agree that Bailey is probably not our type. Until Brad goes for someone like that with a valuable pick, I haven’t spending much time on that type, other than watching him live. And yeah, he’s good. So is Height. If he wasn’t already 25 I’d be really high on him.
As you know I’ve been a Boubacar fan for a long time. But IMO his upside is significantly lower than Faulk’s. It’s still quite high but if Faulk hits 100/100 he’s Richard Seymour like.
Right, it would just be as a DPR with Height. Great pass rush juice but yeah, not much in the way of run defense at all. But of all the speed rushers we’ve watched live recently, he’s my favorite combo of juice + moves.
I agree 100% on Faulk’s ceiling, but I think Traore’s is a Crosby/Hunter type. They both have crazy high ceilings, basically, it’s about the percentage chance of them reaching it, and I think it’s pretty close. Of course Seymour would be a great fit for us, so IF both hit their ceiling I’d probably choose to go that route.
Maybe. I really have concerns about his play strength even in pass rush situations. The long armed OTs may own him. He’s slippery and Gumby like so perhaps not.
The guy was born in 2001. He’s been an Edge. This is his body composition?
