Probably not. But this year’s team can absolutely make the final four which is pretty damn special. Your style works well in the tourney.
Arizona, Michigan and those sorts of teams will have to play a different way than they prefer as they get further in the dance. They absolutely can but it adds some complexity to their pursuit of a title.
Too inconsistent on the offense side of the ball. They don’t have a true number one scorer. They have individuals who can put in the bucket, but think their a sweet 16 team at best.
I don’t expect that they’ll make the final four but they absolutely can. They are going to be right there in the end of tournament games. Going to have to make some crucial plays.

My buddy pointed this out and it might change with NIL dollars keeping guys in the college game longer.
But it is not Izzy style that is the problem. It is his recruiting.
You need 2-3 legit NBA level players to win it all typically. And MSU has not had 2-3 guys in quite some time. Now again this may change as 4-5 year guys who stay because they are making more than they can in the NBA might change this equation. But MSU has been middling because they have middling players.
Izzo has his flaws but he produces good players and when he gets real talent they tend to get better if they allow him to coach them.
I am curious what they do when Izzo retires because on many levels MSU makes it hard on the BB program. Not nearly as hard as UM but Izzo has had his issues convincing the school to do the things needed.
And when coaches win at UM I always feel like it is in spite of the schools support not because of it. Maybe that has changed
He’s doing a phenomenal job with that team, they play real team ball and are great defensively. It’s a prototypical Izzo team which generally bodes well come March. The lack of shooting might be their undoing eventually but they are likely a second week tournament team at minimum.

That being said, Bediako is literally the exact player Nate Oats has needed to recreate since he left in the first place.
If he’s somehow eligible for the rest of the season, which I really really hope doesn’t happen, then this puts us up there with the real contenders IMO.
He is . The key to this team.is def. But that only can you so far if you cant put it the basket. Msu will find out next Friday if they can hang with a top 5 team
Msu has zero nba players. Fears average shooter has the best chance, but also undersized. Uofm has at least 4 players who will see the next level. Hes going to have to do that way if he wants his 2nd. Just wish msu can get some money from. All the nba owners and former players for nil
As an AZ fan MSU is one of the teams that I’d prefer not be in their bracket. They’ll slow it down and keep things close and then see what happens under the 4 minute mark.
The flip side to that is I do think that same style which should allow MSU to punch above it’s weight class later in the tournament makes them vulnerable earlier in the tournament.
Msu likes to push it as well. I wouldn’t worry about them too much

lol this is a team that wasn’t even ranked to start the year. They have not paid for blue chips. They have a huge blue chip class for next year. He is simply coaching the shit out of this less talented team. What’s the big deal? I don’t see how they are overrated. You said it’s only because they are winning. So? They are winning. When he is gone, MSU will have trouble recruiting or retaining someone of this caliber. This team is rated about where all Izzo teams end up. A solid 2-4 seed and hopefully a good tournament run. Outside of Duke and a couple other schools, that’s how it is for most teams. It’s okay. Enjoy the quality of coaching as long as he stays.
MSU has averaged a player to the NBA once every 2 years going on decades now.
Im not justifying izzo as a coach, but us msu fans want that 2nd title. You wont be getting that by doing what hes doing in portal. Fort finally had a good game. But him Teng aren’t playing good enough def. Btw two of his best players came from the portal in walker and Joey Hauser. But that was before nil started to become a thing.
How many players are SS? JJJ, and green. Maybe bridges. All 3 didn’t come from the portal and came before nil and the shit show portal.
That will change. 2 of them are ready the other two will take time. Taylor is back up on his HS team and will drop in recruiting rankings. Do you remember the fears class? Carr is average player who can dunk the ball. Fears is coming along to become a elite point guard. Booker was a top 10 recruit. Where is he now.
I will say this i perfer izzo doing it this way then have a full team or 80 percent be transfer players, but if you got a spot open , go get the best you can get. Not a Fort type of player.
