That’s not true about Kentucky under Pitino. Only once did they get put out of the tourney in the first weekend. They made the elite 8 twice, they lost to Michigans Fab Five in the Final Four, they won the Natty in 1996. I wouldn’t dare call that rarely doing anything in the tourney. Mind you Pitino left the Knicks after the 1989 NBA playoffs and took over a Kentucky program that was on probation for the Eddie Sutton mess. They had a 22-6 record in 1991but was banned from post-season play. The next year they took Duke to distance in what is arguably the greatest game of any sport at any level!

My point was that you can have all the 5 stars in the world and it means nothing. Yes, Kentucky did well, but the fact that they had lottery picks sitting on the bench and he only won what 1 ship? Duke in the other hand, lots of 5 stars also, but coach K did more because he was a great coach and made better teams. Tbh I meant coach Cal for Kentucky, but it still stands the coach is what makes all those stars an actually team.

Who were the lottery pick under Pitino?? I think Jamal Mashburn and Ron Mercer might have been the only ones. I’ll double check it but I know for sure the team that took Duke to the miracle shot and the one that lost to the Fabs in the final four only had Jamal Mashburn as a lottery pick!

Yeah sorry I may have been enjoying a few during the game and got my Kentucky coaches mixed up. 
I actually fell in love with U Mass with camby, Lou Roe, and Mike Williams when coach Cal was there. Now that man knew how to pay for some players and just hope to God somehow they’d just win on talent
