25/26 NCAAB season; MSU UM and more

Nevermind.

Looks like MSU has finally entered the NIL sweepstakes. Could make things more interesting now for the future years. That is one damn big donation.

Biggest i believe. Still dont like how college sports has became.

They said the largest in the history of college athletics. Next highest was 300M to Kansas. If they want to even entertain the notion of being competitive in B1G football, this was necessary.

Then better spend . It would be nice to be osu, AA, Penn st, Oregon, and usc

What was the donation and what entity did it go to?

$401m to the Athletics department

401M from a husband and wife. Greg Williams of Acrisure. Not even an alumnus. 100M more than the next largest donation in the history of college sports. Bananas. 390M directed to athletics.

No info yet on what will happen to NIL etc. it will be interesting to follow.

So since it went to the Michigan State Athletic Department will its use be restricted to the $20.5 mil cap instituted by the NCAA or can it be designated under some type of NIL compensation?

I heard around 100 mil towards nil

Not sure at all. Pretty sure they will just do whatever OSU, UMich, UGA etc all do to maximize all that dough. I am hearing rumors that there is going to be multiple other 100M contributions next week. Nuts if true. Batt looking like he could be the real deal.

lol at the MSU fans that didn’t think MSU had the money to play, they always had it. Some MSU fans just truly like embracing the underdog role a little too much.

Welcome to big boy football, this plus the hire of Fitzgareld is bad news for the rest of the BIG 10

Cool

Seems accurate. I think they had so much internal strife and politics that no prior AD could get everyone on the same page to generate this support. It Truly is a welcome to competitive football for them, at least based the way NIL is now. Now all they have to do is make a football team starting with the 6 dudes left on the roster.

I wonder if Marsh is having second thoughts now seeing that he would have gotten a big check to stay.

Iowa State loses their football HC, hires a new HC and beats Purdue in BB. Been a helluva 14 hours.

No one wants to comment on the MSU game?

They lost to another great team and it was close.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Michigan and Michigan State are ranked 1 and 2 at some point this season.
