5 Takeaways from Lions' Week 1 Unofficial Depth Chart

“EDGE depth remains thin

Perhaps the biggest concern on the depth chart is the lack of proven depth behind EDGE defenders Aidan Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport.

Hutchinson is already among the league’s elite pass-rushers, and Davenport has shown flashes when healthy. Yet, beyond them (no offense to Al-Quadin Muhammad or Tyrus Wheat), the Lions don’t have much in the way of proven contributors”

This could be Brad Holmes down fall and maybe the reason we never get over the hump, Brad has a total disrespect for the DE position and pass rush. Most everyone in the NFL knows the way to beat the great QBs is with pressure. Brad Just doesn’t seem find it important. We’re in a Superbowl run we have extra cash but he doesn’t find it as a need. And this could keep us just knocking on the door but never getting it done.

Should be no problem as long as Goff doesnt turn the ball five times over.

Vegas should have an over/under on how long Davenport stays healthy. Also what is the strategy now with this new KR rule? LBs returning kicks? Do teams prefer somebody beefy instead of fast or something?

Then we should be in for a treat. JG has turned the ball over 5+ times once in 144 games - against the Texans last year.

I like our chances! :+1:

Not really thrilled with them slotting Raymond into the X receiver spot. (according to the depth chart anyway). And Stuard returning kicks is still a head scratcher to me.

Well Raymond was listed there last year if you remember. Not to mention he has shown it in NFL games, while Teslaa looked good in preseason. My guess is things change earlier rather then later.

I like the idea of Stewart as an answer for the new kickoff rules. Now we have 2 kick returners on the field. So in my mind i see two rbs. A powerful bowling ball guy with a regularly speed / shifty guy with him. Which i believe is what Fipps has designed. Train the returners to make the call on who gets the ball based on what they see on the field. Since kickers will be aiming for the landing zone to avoid the 45 yardline, this should increase returns and having 2 different types of returners to use does add a bit of a way to confuse the other team

Right or wrong only time will tell.
