I’m not seeing it with him. Maybe it was the clips they chose to show, but he seems to lack the dawg inside to want to dominate. As others have noted, he needs YEARS of weight training and development of fundamentals. This isn’t an Ansah type of project who showed great violence, strength, and instincts out of the box.
It seems like it would be a better use of resources to find a guy that doesn’t have a 3-4 year trajectory on the Oline.
Yup - he seems to lack power and tenacity, by my take. He needs to learn to be meaner. Let’s hire Suh to come in and line up across from him every day until it “clicks” and he gets a little pissed/mean.
I’ll give you high ceiling becuase of his size and length. But he also has a very low floor, too. “Hunger” is hard to teach. If I had to bet, I think he’s out of the league in two years.
History, and I agree with you. Most of these guys never make it. Especially UDFAs. These are guys that weren’t drafted because they had one deficiency or another. In Ezes case, it isn’t size or athletic ability. It’s time in the sport and weight lifting.
Holmes has done well in his career going back to the Rams with low round and UDFA contributors. I see what the potential is here with Eze but no clue if he will make it.
My wife’s 3rd language is English (and she still beats me in Scrabble!). But the fact is she gets words and phrases mixed up all the time. One in particular that I’ve never corrected her on follows:
I love you super big!
It’s hard to explain, but it does happen. Good pick up.
I once had a non-English native language speaker under me, and during a review I said I wanted to see him start tearing it up. I found out a few days later he thought I wanted him to cry.
One of my favorite stories, a group of us were talking and one nurse who was Russian, English second language, was telling a story about a really bad trauma she had seen… car accident and patient was ejected from the vehicle.
Except instead of saying “they were ejected from the vehicle” she said “he was ejaculated from the vehicle”
The whole Eze segment was a waste of Hard Knocks. He isn’t making the team. And Pimp will be PS at best. Not sure why they chose to spend so much time on them. They aren’t even on the bubble.
I agree, complete waste of time in my book. Although hard knocks has done this a bunch in the past with players that eventually get cut. It would make more sense to focus on someone with more of a chance to make the team, maybe someone like Tom Kennedy or Demetrius Taylor.
They WANT to cover some guys that are going to get cut. They always do this and they are fully aware of what they are doing. They are building a character…including his wife and his journey…so that when the cut scene happens it will be a continuation of the storyline they have already established. Not just some random dude you have never heard of.
One of the basic principles of the show since the beginning is how hard it is to make an NFL roster and the stories behind the guys who don’t make it…or barely make it.
