I’m not sure I see what the hullabaloo is about with that one. He turned the nukber three team defense in 2021 into the 14th ranked team defense in 2022.

I’m really starting to think AZ is AG’s job if he wants it. The Murray connection is huge.

Many factors in play though….
They did have Von for a portion of 2021…
then traded Chubb for portion of 2022 (35% snaps)…
Randy Gregory played 16% of snaps…
Simmons missed 5 games at safety…
Ron Darby missed last 12 games…
Dremont missed last 4 games….
and…. uhhh … Russ Wilson couldn’t “Hackett”… 
Cool.
So why am I impressed?
I still think it was a well run defense…
particularly before they seemed to give up against the Rams late in the season when everyone hated Russ…. 
That game alone skewed their stats….

Wash accomplishes all that in house. When they had talent they had good defenses. When they didn’t his defenses sucked. Funny how that works.

I don’t even think we’re all that far off on defense btw. Fixing CB is of course the priority.
We’ve got more ascending defensive talents then we’ve had in my lifetime.

AG will be a brilliant HC…better than coordinator. I hope he stays, as he is part of our player development.
That said, if he xosn’t get th right coordinators, it is possible that he would not xo well.

I really wish we had brought back Jim Schwartz. I know I hated him as a head coach, but the guy is legit at DC.

I didn’t hate him as a head coach. I just feel like his temperament made him a good builder but a poor retainer

We had multiple players out of shape whether it was Stafford or Nick Fairley. Stafford showed very little development until Caldwell arrived. We were undisciplined and heavily penalized. Nothing about Schwartz was really good as a head coach. But he clearly knows the X and Os of defensive football. Something AG is lacking.
What’s the Murray connection ? Can you elaborate

Nope. DC has worked a bonafide Motown miracle by completely flipping the culture. Something none of us have seen in 50-60 years man. So no, AG would have to work some insane miracles in years 2-5 at whatever team he ends up with AND make serious playoff runs in order to outpace what Danny Campbell has done in his first two seasons.
