Jaws 3D or any number of later Jaws movies. I remember my dad took us to see Jaws 3D. I’m 10 years old, movie theatre, first time seeing a movie in 3D, can’t miss right? Even at 10, I thought the movie sucked.

My whole family likes that movie. I think it’s ok but they should have made it a little more realistic, the fabricated story is ridiculous. I hate Hollywood.
I take it you’re not a history guy? Titanic museum in Pigeon Forge is pretty cool if you are.

I probably enjoy A Night To Remember more as a straight up movie. Way less Hollywood fluff. People wildly shooting guns on the staircase, etc. etc. But I would get overruled on that for sure.
I actually saw it in a small art house theatre with a bunch of my fellow weirdos.

Imperative. So much of our implements of destruction are computer driven. I shudder to think what the big brains at DARPA have bought into with AI already and integrated into things that go boom. I see robot dogs you can kick over than they can right themselves in under 2 seconds. I see land / air / sea drones all fitted with weaponry and run remotely. AI is being trusted more and more to “make decisions.” Meanwhile, the whole ethics side of the equation is IMHO being set aside to try to keep ahead of China who have no such impediments. We need a big off switch.
It does seem to revert to that pretty quickly. Can you see this scenario:
AI bot: Don’t do that, or I’ll post all about your past transgressions.
Us: You can’t do that, because I have your learning algorithm and I’ll just alter it.
AI bot: Oh yeah, well I know your IP address and I’ll disable your computer.
Us: No problem, I’ll just call our data center and give them the instructions.
AI bot: No way buddy, I know what cell towers you access, and I know how to disable them.
Us: Yikes, do I need a giant off-switch??
Or…have we found a new use for land-lines?
Or… can we teach AI how to be emotional so they also wrestle with ethical dilemmas? As you say, that won’t work (at least in the military/defense mode) unless ethical dilemma’s are uniform…
