All of that is true, but there’s a reason your LG is also generally the more athletic guard, though it’s less true now that it used to be (same as LT being more important than RT). The left side is the blind side, and thus requires better pass-blockers, which usually means more athletic. They’re also more likely to get help from the center for the same reason, so them being slightly less strong is fine. The right side is traditionally for the road graders. Hell even on my nephew’s high school team they’re still called “quick guard and strong guard.” We also run a lot of sweeps and traps to the right, to take advantage of Penei, so it’s probably even more important for us specifically.
Cal CB Williams at 215 and SMU DE Roberts at 171. If we let this happen I would be disappointed.
