Even the best Patricia got was bevell who was out of football for 1 year . Is it because others know the big difference between Patricia and Tennessee coach vrabel for an example ? Even marinelli was able to get high profile cordinators like mike Martz. Any chance bevell might leave team seeing the dysfunctional management ? All the staffes are gone and it’s hilarious that no urgency in getting new staff. Tannehil look like Bledsoe In helmet
Would you prefer Martz to Bevell? Do you view Martz as more sought after/high profile?
Have you seen anyone anywhere say something that leads you to believe this, or is this the type of comment you would accuse another poster of “fantasyland” for saying?
- How do you know there’s no urgency?
- Why would that be hilarious?
Interesting spin, to be sure.
I’m guessing he’s targeting a DC that is playing in the playoffs and he will have to wait until after the SB.
Then he will probably let the DC fill out the defense
Very high likelihood. My thinking as well.
He is targeting a position coach on a team in the playoffs, because if you were already the defensive coordinator on a team in the playoffs…
<Why would you want to come here?>
Hoping for Mayo which could now happen soon.
I’m more concerned that we fired so many coaches after year 2. Not that they didn’t deserve to be fired but it’s hard to confident in a guy who assembled such a shitty staff.
Just out of the reality that what’s going to be available are going to be guys who are willing to take a risk on a one-year time horizon. Mostly, this is going to involve guys who have never been in those types of positions, and a bunch of just happy to be here retreads.
Unless this defense gets a whole lot faster and a whole lot healthier, or the scheme significantly changes, rearranging the director’s chair line on the sidelines isn’t going to do a damn thing
This is very common for Quinn to pay big money to players and coaches who don’t have any desire to play and coach . Lang retired after milking all his money . McDaniels fooled big time by not contributing anything . Ansah is another milker, you have to get rid of washed out guys than taking chances with them . Finally pasqloni earned his extra retirement fund
Paying Ansah and Daniels almost 30 million on 1 year deals is absolutely brutally criminally incompetent given their injury histories and the amount of holes in the roster
I have a feeling that the hot seat they are on is more luke warm. I feel like Martha released a PC statement to appease fans.
Completely agree. We need a 180 in the worst imaginable way.
I wouldn’t be upset for a Frazier.
That seems like it would be risky. You’d have to know that the other team would be willing to release that coach.

seems like it would be risky.
right on. At least then you know what your options are/are not. Risky either way. Settle early, or go for what you want.
Guessing he’s going for a DC from the Pats staff. I’m wrong all the time, though. lol
Jared mayo and bellchick son Steve are top candidates for defensive cordinators
I don’t think any coach is worried about coming to a bad team. Some would actually prefer going to a bad or historically challenged team. I’ve never shied away from a challenge at any places I’ve worked. Granted my field isn’t football or even sports related, but that doesn’t really matter. The bigger the challenge, the sweeter the reward. Just imagine the notoriety the coach(es) that can go to Detroit or Cleveland or Arizona would receive upon turning these sad franchises around. A couple Superbowl wins and you can write your own check. Also, I wouldn’t want a coach that is afraid of the challenge. I also know that it isn’t going to be accomplished in 2 or 3 years. It’s going to take at least 3 or 4, maybe 5.

I meant he’s targeting a coach to be his future DC who is on a playoff team.
He’s obviously not going to get a DC to take a lateral position from a playoff team to join the Lions.
Most coaches would give their right nut to coach in the NFL for any team. To think they will pass on the Lions is insane. Now, that doesn’t mean whomever it is will be a good fit or do a good job.
The idea that it is hard to fill highly sought after jobs on a team with much more talent than the #3 pick suggests is lunacy. Winning gives everyone too much credit and losing gives them too much blame. Where else in the top 10 can a coordinator come to a team with this much talent, great draft position and money to round out the roster?
NE defensive positional coach or Shane Bowen the OLB coach in Tennessee who has coached with the Texans and now the Titans - not a direct NE connection but under two coaches from the Belichick coaching tree in O’Brien and Vrabel.
