Anyone Into Trading Cards?

In the last few months I’ve really gotten back into cards, primarily football, something I haven’t done since I was a kid. I know a few other people that have randomly gotten back into them recently, like there was a psyop of some  Just wondering if anyone else is playing with cards like a kid again.

Big time since COVID. I flip about 150 graded cards a year to build my own collection.

Currently in at PSA, just a dmattering, I have 60 in there now…stuff that moves, Ohtani Judge Jordan Elly etc.

Nice!! I just sent my first set off to psa last week…

I have started going to shows every month and have a guys trip planned to Chicago this summer for the national show in August.

That is a bangin’ sub bro. Some tough parallels to get in there. PSA has been tighter on grading lately and the Prizm run this year wasnt as tight QC wise, so grades are all over the place.

Took me a good year to get a decent eye.

Stuff like that and higher you may want to look into a prep company that preps em up and reviews them and gives a go no/go opinion on gem level or no, or expected grade. Usually $3-5 a card.

I’ve heard about those companies and am considering that based on how these turn out… I know the prizm gem rate this year is rough, I held a few back bc of that

Where do you buy from? Shows? Ebay? I get most of my flip stuff on whatnot

Ebay/FB groups/mercari. A little from shows, antique stores in my travels and a few from streamer breaks(less of that now). Havent really plied whatnot much but have a bit on fanatics breaks and ebay breaks. Will give whatnot a loon again. I just dont want to sit in a channel forever

I used to own a shop.

I still buy and sell daily

Pokémon is massive, I know next to nothing about them.

Depends what you’re looking for… I started with smaller cards and breaks, which was fun, but I’ve switched to case hits mostly so it’s easier to find a stream for what I’m looking for… I don’t have time to watch 200 cards go for $2-$10

I’m a nerd. I started playing Magic the Gathering when it first came out. Don’t play much anymore but still collect the cards. I really only buy expensive single cards at the local shop. Helps hold onto the childhood I guess.

I collect too many things

I used to love the hobby but decided to stop when I started realizing that a cards value is only what someone is willing to pay for it. I also was in when card companies produced limited runs and when the cards got popular, they reprinted them and the value tanked. Got out and have never turned back. I was thinking about finding a local card show.
