At the risk of having an intelligent conversation, The lions draft in the top 5

So you are willing to pay Taylor Decker LT money for him to be at RT?

That is a good point that i hadnā€™t considered when I was thinking about Thomas and moving Decker.

Its the same issue we had with Reiff. Its nice to think we can just move someone like Reiff to RT and his salary will be less because its a less expensive position. But the reality is that Reiff had already proved to be a competent LT so he was going to get LT money offers from other teams. So even if we wanted to move him to guard, we were going to have to match LT offers to do it.

The same is true for Decker. We can put him wherever we want, but its going to cost us LT money to do it.

We already pay Wagner 10M plus. And, The new tackle will be working on his rookie contract so will be really cheap, so paying Decker reasonably will give us two solid tackles with only one of them making LT money. So, yes, if that was even my point, and, it was not, then paying Decker LT money is ok. I made my argument for Simmons and used those other two to illustrate the type of responses I was trying to elucidate.

My initial impression is that there are a lot of very good defensive players at the top. Starting with Chase Young of course. But I think Isaiah Simmons and Derrick Brown are going to be very good as well.

Okudah will be a good one, too, but Iā€™m less inclined to take a DB that high, unless their name is Deion Sanders.

This is the purpose, to reason your choice by telling us why, not telling us why you wonā€™t pick a position.

Brown, because if we canā€™t get the quarterback uncomfortable in the pocket and moving his feet side to side or backwards so he is actually having to drop his sight lines off his reads and progressions if weā€™re going to continue to rush three or four guys, then it really doesnā€™t matter how good we cover

If you had your choice of either would you take the corner or the tackle? Why? If Slay is gone, then I grab Okudah. If not Thomas would be the choice.

Right now my choice is Brown. I think he will be BPA at a position that fits our scheme and is a relatively high value position. Namelyā€¦ he isnā€™t a WR, TE, CB etcā€¦ I watched film on Thomas and iā€™m not convinced he is a major upgrade over Decker, then you get into the whole ordeal of what do you do with Decker if you have Thomas. I watched Browns LSU film, they had to double team him virtually every play. One on one, he was pushing the OG straight into the QB. Iā€™m curious what he measures at the combine, like to have a big body to replace Harrison.

Iā€™d be pretty pissed if we took Jeudy. I do not want a WR in the 1st. If Quinn thought we were going to lose all our WRs, thatā€™s poor roster management on his part. Could have snagged a 1st round talent last year in the draft(Metcalf) instead of a 4th round talent at LB (Tavai).

Okudah? When is the last time a CB was taken that high and lived up to the hype? Woodson?

If I thought Thomas or Wirfs were better prospects, I would be more inclined to take one of them. There is something to be said for securing a pro-bowl OT for the next 10 years. Iā€™m just not convinced either one of those guys is going to be that good.

Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State is my #1 Choice with Young being off the board .
If itā€™s at 3 or 5 or 8 & if Slay is still here or not, for me itā€™s Okudah all day long .

Ivā€™e watched every single game he has played in . The kid has Patrick Peterson & Jalen Ramsey written all over him ā€¦He is a special player at a HUGE NEED POSITION and monetary value position and at a position when comes time for the 5th year option useful .

No chance the Lions draft a QB round #1 , not with the ultimatum made and regardless if you liked the wording of the letter by Martha, it was an ultimatum ā€¦
This is a Coach and GM on the hot seat and can not afford the luxury pick of a QB ā€¦

Nor do Coaches and GMā€™s that are on hot seats get the right to draft the future QB that the next regime might not want .

This is a situation that is about adding the final pieces to make the playoffs .
I come right back around in the 2nd and take RB JK Dobbins Ohio State if GOD willing he is still on the board to pair with KJ & BO and address the Oline , LB and DT spots for starters in FA

Iā€™d trade the entire draft and 2021 #1 for the Ohio State trio of Young, Okudah & J.K Dobbins

The best QB in this draft is Justin Herbert QB Oregon & if Quinn and Patricia had not shit the bed it would be nice to have a guy like Herbert waiting in the wings to take overā€¦He will be gone in the first round
