It’s a tempting line, but as others in the thread have said, I think the run game really shortens this game potentially. The Lions can’t stop anyone on the ground. I’m sure Bellichek will play it safe, keep the clock moving, win the time of possession battle, minimize errors and keep the Lions off the field. I almost wonder if this will be a sneaky 21-17 game.
Lastly, the Lions have their 3rd kicker so far they just sighed off the street playing outdoors in a windy stadium. Not so sure it’s going to be a slugfest
He’s done it the opposite way too, throwing the shit out of it if that’s the weakness of the defense.
The Pats w/Brady had multiple games where they just threw the ball the entire game because that was the weakness of the D. Usually against Pittsburgh. I believe there was at least one where they came out and threw it 20+ times to start the game.
I think there are layers to what’s wrong with the defense… I’m of the camp that’s it’s BOTH a talent deficiency and a coaching/scheme/defensive play-calling deficiency.
If I’m right that’s both good and bad news. With some tweeks I’m hopeful that we can be less historically awful.
