@Jah26 you okay?

Thanks yeah, far away from me. That’s not far from the airport though. Going to mess with air traffic for a few days.

That’s crazy close. They’re going to be getting a lot of ash.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw the title of this, I thought there was a major earthquake that I didn’t feel. Whew.

Volcano’s are tricky. I spent some time on Montserrat. Rented a 10,000 sq ft place at the foot of a volcano that hadn’t erupted in over 300 years. There were 8 of us and we had a great time, 2 years later…" 1995 - The previously dormant Soufrière Hills volcano, in the southern part of the island, erupts for the first time in 350 years, destroying the capital, Plymouth." Lucky for them they didn’t choose independence from Great Britain.

Ha, yes. Famous place here.

You can start your own, stray dogs are all over the place down here.

Saw that a few years ago. If the world shuts down, I’m heading there.

How close is that volcano that popped off to Arenal @Jah26 ?

Pretty close, ha. The Poas Volcano is about 15km northwest.

The volcanos in CR shouldn’t be a worry. They are not considered very dangerous. I’d be more concerned about an earthquake, but that is also not very likely. But who knows. No guarantees in life wherever you be.

Thx. Arenal is part of my bucket list CR tour along with Monteverde, Jaco, Limon, San Jose and some expat buddies is Guanacaste/Tamarindo

Nice. I live on the shores of Lake Arenal for about six months, but on the quiet side. I guess you’re thinking La Fortuna to visit the volcano…

I will be moving close to Jaco in a few months, that town has grown up a bit but is still too much of a party town for me. I’m going to try for nearby though.

Limon? I guess you’re going to want to hang a right when you reach the Carib and head down to Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo. Nice vibe in that area.

I lived in Nosara, Guanacaste for a while. Not my cup of tea. Way too expensive and that’s true now in Tamarindo as well. Super dusty in dry season.

San Jose is kind of a dump, really. There’s a few nice neighborhoods, like Barrio Escalante. Worth checking out if you’re stuck in the city.

I like the central Pacific coast best, between Jaco and Uvita. FWIW.

And there, sir, is all my unsoliciticed tourist advice.

So, where’s the best fishing on the Pacific side? Not interested in trophy fish, looking for what’s good on the BBQ.

I’m not a fisherman, but the marina in Quepos has boats going out for tuna, mahi mahi, snapper etc. It’s a nice place too, some good restaurants/bars to chill at there.

Your best bet might be to scope out the marina and ask for local fisherman to go out with.

Yep. wait for them to come in, see who has the best catch, follow them to where they drink, buy a couple rounds and then set the hook.
