Maybe the Bears told Ben Johnson that he better lose the game or the Bears will move on without him. So he called low percentage plays designed to not work, all the while knowing that the defense couldn’t possibly sustain the onslaught brought on by the Washington offense. Ben Johnson tanked the game!

How do you know he wasn’t distracted? Your telling me if I’m working at a job making 50k a year but have already accepted a new job making 250k a year that it wouldn’t distract me at all, even subconsciously.

We had 5 plays out of play action, we are usually about 50%, Gibbs ran only 14 times while averaging 7.5 yds per carry.

That Washington game was unlike any game we played all year and I’m suppose to believe it was just coincidence?

The fact that less than 36 hrs after the game he accepting the job from Chicago and already had his D coordinator worked out tells me he had more important things on his mind than a game for a team he was getting ready to leave.

I can say, if I knew I had accepted a job or even was the leading candidate for a job with a big promotion and pay raise, I would definitely not be focused on my current position. I don’t know how anyone couldn’t be distracted in that situation. Given that it was an NFL head coaching position and he had a myriad of big decisions to make right away as part of accepting that job, it’s safe to say he had to be distracted. Yeah, he called some plays that worked that day, but the overall offensive flow like we had seen in other games was not there. Something was definitely off.

Do you think Chicago brass was rooting for Detroit to win the Superbowl? Creating hate and discontent in Detroit works to their advantage. Even if Ben called a shit game, the players are still going to execute to the best of their ability (which resulted in 31 points).
