I’ll say it this way. Philly just gave up a 3rd for Jaelen Phillips, who is also a true rental. In that thread, it was said that Phillips isn’t even a guy who moves the needle, if you want to make an impact you need to go after a Hendrickson. On that scale, the Bengals asking for a 1st for a guy who moves the needle, when the price was a 3rd that is just a depth piece, I don’t think the Bengals are wrong here. It’s a true rental vs a true rental, about as close of a comparison as you are going to get.
A first rounder for what would amount to a rental is too much. We’re not gonna resign him. Cincinnati won’t sign him and will end up losing him for nothing.
Besides, we have bigger needs right now than DE. I’d give up a third for someone like Bitonio.
If I’m the bengals no way I move until 5 minutes before the trade line. There’s teams out there that may give them what they want or close to it. SF just lost their first round DE so they may be desperate.
