Keenan Allen for my $.
A few DEs would be nice here. Z.Smith would be solid here at this point.
Keenan shouldn’t be that unstoppable at his age.
In the St Brown interview, Caleb said he was the most talented player he’s played with. (I mean, he’s a rookie, but still. Chose him over his buddy Rome.)
Right. Allen has hurt us for years. Would be an upgrade over Tim Patrick.
They’re a year and half apart in age.
Patrick has amassed 5 seasons.
Allen 12.
Yikes.
Allen is a SB-contender type acquisition.
You guys are really talking me into Keenan Allen here… I’ll say I like that better than I like Cooper Kupp. I like Patrick because he is a bit taller and is a great run blocker. I don’t know much about how Allen’s run blocking is, which is important for our outside WR’s.
That being said, on an affordable deal and if Allen were interested? Yeah I would talk to him for sure. We can still draft a bigger WR later in the draft to develop into the position and help with run blocking.
The problem with Allen is the same with Kupp… he’s a slot receiver. That’s gonna make the short-area of the field even more crowded since it’s where ARSB, Gibbs, and LaPorta operate too. The value of Tim - besides his blocking - is he’ll run clear out routes and deep crossers and the like. The perfect “sacrificial X” that’s all the rage. Asking Allen or Kupp to do that stuff is a disservice, it’s the weakest parts of their games.
Got it, I thought Allen was lining up outside for the Bears with Odunze on the other side, but I didn’t pay real close attention. The Bears “offense” was mostly comprised of Caleb running to the sideline and throwing up his prayers, so it makes sense that’s where the WR’s ended up.
Now that I think about it, yeah he was for sure the slot, because they had DJ Moore as the other outside receiver with Odunze. Since Caleb can’t hit the broad side of a barn, he did an outstanding job of making DJ Moore pretty forgettable.
Kupp’s got much more outside game than Allen does.
The only reason I would want to sign Keenan Allen is so that the Bears can’t have him lol
He often lines up on the outside of the formation, but if you’ll notice it’s often in the slot. McVay is famous for his condensed formations. He does this so his WRs can be more involved with blocking for the run game. The same is true of Puka. He’s an “outside” receiver who really lines up as a slot a lot of the time.
A lot of this, basically:
Jefferson does this quite a bit too, but not to the level of those guys.
Yes, blocking angles. Masters of this are Masters of NFL offenses.
Agreed, and we’re great at it too. However, we also use an X (and the Rams are adding one this year in Adams), and that’s the spot where we need a WR. Where Kupp or Allen would play, well we’ve already got that covered with really good players.
Hey we’re kicking ass -we got Grant Steward @ LB
