I would like to assure everyone that my official Dropped by Ebron line of footballs is legit, and you know it because you wonāt find Ebronās fingerprints on any of them.
Counterfeit goods are a huge industry. When I bought new NGK spark plugs for my car I went over each individual plug and compared them to an online guide from the manufacturer about how to spot fake plugs. Sometimes they are easy to spot if the dummy making them put made in China or India on the box, as NGK only makes them in Japan and Thailand. For the most part though you have to look closely at the quality of the logo printing on the ceramic body, check for scratches or other signs of sloppy work, and compare the filament the closeups NGK has on their website. The danger is that the counterfeit spark plugs typically use copper filaments instead of iridium, and the copper will likely fail due to heat within a few hundred miles and fill the engineās cylinders with little bits of metal. That makes for a very unhappy engine and an even unhappier you.
