Brad Holmes and his Pet Projects

Not sure I understand why first and second year players are being thrown in the burn barrel as busts. It is widely stated you can’t evaluate a draft well until 3 years later. Why are Manu, Vaki, and Tesla even being mentioned? They may turn out to be busts, but I’m still looking and hoping for continued development…..we don’t know for sure yet. Maybe they had to be included to make the list look longer?

very excited to see what Manu and Teslaa turn into

With Decker hurt and LaPorta out I’d like to see one of those guys turn into something this year. I know everyone has written off Rakestraw for good reason but if he is ever healthy he will change some opinions.

This is so spot on  like i understand peoples conerns but yes it’s like reaching to argue. AndTeslaa is a rookie…lol. Its like 3rd round picks are automatic all-pros now. Like damn why trade upo for Teslaa when we could have got a franchise QB :joy:

GM’s miss a lot more on picks than fans think.

Nothing wrong with drafting a developmental QB or projects. You are going to miss occasionally. I don’t think any of those picks were necessarily bad picks.

Of note… Bromart is now on the Steelers active roster. They claimed him from KC’s practice squad. He might play against us in a few weeks. Was kinda surprised to see that

And James Houston has 4.5 sacks this year. We will see him soon too. Run right at him though

Brad hits more than he misses and I am a big fan.

I agree with Hooker and some of the other mid round value picks.

I think we have to factions here:

  1. Brad doesn’t make giant trades at deadline which drives fans nuts. This is a relatively new trend in NFL over last few years. I recall growing up and swear trade deadline was nothing most years.

  2. Brad has done so well at rebuilding this team that we can never question him. This group actually is a bit bigger and gets a little sensitive anytime you question Brad or Dan.

The reality is Brad has done really well and I am sure Brad is well aware of where he could have done better and is putting himself in a position to do better.

Another reality is this is a message board and it’s ok to question game decisions, play calls and draft choices without group 2 challenging everyone who questions a call.

I am very happy with Dan and Brad and I am not convinced this team can’t win it all this year. Every team has gaps and this team has yet to play its best ball. I’m praying we start seeing it on weeks 17 and 18.

You would be amazed at how bad some Patriots drafts were. DIdn’t matter.

Prolly always more misses than hits. The 3rd round IS a good time to gamble on high-end talent that fell, or perhaps teams feel someone they’ve discovered. That’s OK. They don’t always make it, but you have to take some swings.

The fact that Brad has been SO good at his high picks, and scoring on some later ones, totally offsets the misses he has had. (I am still rooting for Rakestraw!)

I really wish Brad would just hit on all his mid round selections especially those he used additional magic day three beans to trade up and get.

Every other GM in the history of the nfl nails these picks and they aren’t a crap shoot whatsoever!!!
