You don’t have to take everything so personal. My takes aren’t lazy I’ve watched every snap of every season even the 0 and 16 season. So yes I’m just as invested as you are. I don’t know who made you the judge of valid takes but you need to calm down and just have a conversation.
I think it’s okay to look back. Maybe with quantifiable data. For example if you are going to say Brad Holmes sucks at drafting, maybe presenting actual data comparing him to other drafters you feel are better. Suggest endpoints, like resigned after free agency, pro bowl selections, players they missed on drafted just after their draft pick, even PFF (ugh). Just present some actual data so there is something to discuss rationally.
To start with, I suggest not relying on the recency bias of the most recent draft and ignoring BH history.
This is crazy I never said he sucks at drafting. I just said that we need to address our D line better this year. I know he is really good at drafting. I just think we need to get some more defensive line help. Most of the Dline we drafted have not done that well. Maybe because of injuries maybe because they stink. Watching all the other playoff teams one thing stood out the defensive lines for all teams are stacked .
As far as actual data I just have an opinion like I think that Davenport was a terrible signing and I know a lot of people on this board that thought that. But maybe you guys have run all of them off because they have a different opinion than you guys.
Wasn’t he prior to the injury. He was at least pretty damn close.
I could probably name 8 to 10 better and hopefully he gets back to that.
Okay. Fine. 8-10. Think that is spitting hairs but regardless if he returns to form his pay is commensurate with his play. If not that’s just part of the deal. It’s a violent game.
…and 3-2-1. THIS is a problem that folks need to just freaking bury. Did the OP say that??! (Hutch/Alim). So why are you foisting a straw man argument like this?? Are YOU good with what happened Saturday?? Do you think there were absolutely zero BH moves that we can be critical about? Hey Calvin Johnson really sucks… drrrrrrrrrrrr. So because CJ was a great pick, (sort of hard to blow those 2OA picks like CJ and Hutch btw) we cannot criticize Matt Millen and WCF right?? Is that the logic we are using here?? It is time for some here to ALLOW for critical evaluation of our team WITHOUT immediately going to mockery for anyone who dares criticize this staff and front office.
It does not mean we don’t support them. I have yet to see ONE poster here actually call for BH’s firing. Have you?! There HAVE been some boner moves (and lack thereof) by BH. It needs to be OK for balls and strikes to be called here. You want to mock someone calling for BH to be fired because he missed on BroMart and a HS football coach is a better option to fill in for your starting QB than the guy you picked at 68 after two full years in the system, then ok, that would be silly based on his entire body of work. But exactly NO ONE here is saying this. The auto-default mockery that a group of loyalists here seem to spew anytime anyone makes ANY comments of criticism, no matter how valid, needs to go and yesterday. In my humblest of opinions of course.
forget the draft, the Lions need to spend draft capital and get Maxx Crosby

This is ridiculous, there’s no GM in the league that nails every pick. Holmes has had some great signings and some great draft picks and then a couple that aren’t so great you can’t expect perfection it’s just not realistic or fair to Brad.
The team makeup had nothing to do with our loss, the injuries suffered by this defense would have been impossible to overcome for any team when you’re going up against the best the league has to offer in the playoffs.
People need to quit trying to pick apart the team, the management and coaching instead just understand that we had some really bad luck this year with injuries and that’s just how it goes sometimes in the NFL.
With some additional draft picks and signings we should be a juggernaut next year with everybody back healthy.
I don’t think that. I just think that he could have addressed the d line better.
But there’s only so much he can do, man. You didn’t like the Davenport move, fine, I get it. But he a great fit for us and Brad took a chance. Didn’t work out. Lots of moves don’t work out, and at least it wasn’t crippling.
A lot of people in here hated what we did at X WR too. God the amount of threads that complained about it, even after we added Patrick. There were more of them than the edge complainers. BUT that one worked out. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. The key is not to be too crippled when they don’t, and the fact is we weren’t when Davenport went down. We were crippled by the further injuries to Alim, Hutchinson, Paschal, Levi, etc… How can you prepare for that?
Let me ask you this… if he had added Davenport and Zadarius before the season, would you have considered that to be enough? Because it would have been A LOT, and it still wouldn’t have been enough. You just want him to keep adding and adding and adding? I just don’t know what the solution was that you seem so certain was out there.

Here’s what I want. I want him to re evaluate his approach to drafting D lineman. I mean he was going to trade up for Levi people had to talk him out of it. Paschal has been ok. Martin has been a complete bust. And last year we had ammo. We took manu in the 3rd and Vaki in the 4th. Also we gave a way a third for Terrion. I like Terrion but there are a lot of dbs that went after him that are playing good. I’m pretty sure we could have used some more defensive lineman with some of those picks . That’s all I’m saying.
If our DL would have stayed healthy I think it would have been terrific. ![]()

I see the mockery directed at hot takes that are deeply flawed reflexive trash belying no kind of analysis or understanding of the reality of the situation, let alone common sense.
Garbage like, “Levi is no good same goes for Pachal. These guys should not be on the roster,” when these are very good rotational guys. Or, “I just see a defense that looked worse than the one we had in our first year of rebuilding.” Takes that refuse to acknowledge any other mitigating factors into consideration.
The team makeup had nothing to do with our loss
Could not disagree more with this statement of non-fact. When you bring in a guy who can NEVER stay healthy (Davenport) as your “answer” and trust that if he doesn’t work out, you’ve always got Josh Paschal’s development to count on, THAT is roster makeup. This after not having any threats on the outside besides Hutch caused us to have zero pass rush in the NFCC last year. How much pressure did our EDGE players get Saturday? Yep, zero… again.

This is are problem from the past we always hang onto guys that we think are going to be healthy one day or actually provide good things to roster without being in a contract year like Levi. The truth is Levi was only healthy because of a contract year. He probably will get one more contract and play less than 50percent of his games.
