My Mt. Rushmore is Moss, Calvin, Rice, and…you know I sort of have these three above all else. But gun to my head probably TO as much as he annoys me.

But, if I was building a team and could pick WRs in their prime (same age) my dream team would be Calvin at the X, Fitz in the slot, and either Tyreek or Moss at the Z. Then Rice could literally play any spot too rotating in. Tyreek would give that change of direction speed and be good on bubble screens etc. and could take the top off along with Randy for Calvin and Fitz.

Nobody did the deep route like Moss. He’s my #1 if I’m building a team and Calvin is on the other outside. Slot I’ve got Rice even though he wasn’t the shifty guy. Tony Gonzales at tight end and call it a day.

Ok but which 4 on the **blocking** WR Mt. Rushmore? I got Amon Ra and Hines Ward, who else?

Cooper Kupp could be added to the best blockers list. There is not a lot of real productive WRs that were known for their blocking. Guys like Moss or CJ were better used to just spread out wide and they were taking 2 defenders with them with no blocking involved.

Personally, I think Randy Moss is the best receiver to ever play the game. Jerry Rice is up there for his consistency and longevity. Terrell Owens was an absolute beast in his prime. They would probably be my top 3. Calvin Johnson, Tim Brown, Cris Carter, Isaac Bruce are all worthy. They picked Gronk as a receiver and left out Tony Gonzalez?

I think there is a difference between who was the best and who had the best career. In 1984 Roy Green was hands down the best and most feared WR in the NFL. He had over 1500 yards receiving which was unheard of at the time. He might be the best I ever saw. If you watch some of his hi- Lites you will see he started as one of the best CBs and KRs in the NFL when he wore #25 and eventually went to #81 as a full time WR. He was a 2 way player for a couple years before he was just too good at WR.https://youtu.be/fDxruxsuIA4

While I appreciate this thought process. I have come to the agreement with my inner self that longevity has to be part of the equation.

Do we really want to get twisted up in discussing players that had 2-3 insanely great seasons as the best ever?

I think Julio Jones belongs in the discussion. If Julio would have retired after season 9 like Calvin, I think people would remember how dominant he was. Instaed, he held on for another 4 seasons.
