Bravo Brad

Replacing Jonah with a rook seems like a no-brainer. And get some comp value as well when gets paid somewhere else.

How doe this work:

I thought we got Sewell and ARSB in the same draft class.

Oh wait that is right. ARSB is on a 4 year ride while Sewell in on the 5.

So after next season ARSB is an UFA. Sewell is not an UFA until 2026 due to the team option on 2025.

The Lions really do need to get these deals done on Sewell/ARSB/Goff this off season. I do not see how they have any choice. First off this is the most leverage the team will have since they are effectively giving them big money a year sooner (ARSB and Sewell…no leverage on Goff LOL). So the players can be leverage to take a bit less per year since they will get in sooner. Also giving them a better shot at a 3rd and likely final contract worth big money.

Restructures/roster cuts.

Yes, I don’t really see a world where they can afford to sign him to the money he is going to want. (Assuming he wants $10m+ as a former “Pro Bowl” guard)

Drafting a stud OG/C seems like a wise move, a kid that can play both at a high level. Rags is the man, but gotta be prepared if he can’t go.

Then again he has had real durability concerns the past 2 seasons. Think he’s lost a lot of money. Price might be much more reasonable than expected.

I think it’s possible. But there are a LOT of bad lines out there that could use a “Pro Bowl” caliber guard even for 14 games out of 17 a year.

Missed 9 games and couldn’t finish 3 others over the last 2 years. Will miss another next week.

Could be risky giving him a big deal.

But it only takes 1 team of course.

His play on the field is also very average this year

It’s not just this year. He is just an average guard. I use “Pro Bowl” because that’s what his agent will leverage. The reality is that he was a second alternate. (And a third this year)

Completely agree. Decent player. But far from elite. Paying him 10 mill per season would be crazy IMO

he may come on board cheaper. not sure what to expect, but if I were forced to gamble on it, I would guess he will be gone

That sounds about right, though I haven’t done the math. Because all of them would be early signings, Brad has a lot of options in how to spread that salary cap impact of those big 3. Having said that, I don’t expect Brad to change his stripes and go into full Les Snead mode. In my double life as Brad Holmes, I tell myself to never change. I hope I’m listening… :cowboy_hat_face: :cowboy_hat_face: :cowboy_hat_face:

I don’t expect Brad to change his stripes either…but part of his stripes tend to be doing what I wouldn’t expect…so maybe he will? LOL.

I"m fully expecting some saavy veteran signings to fill the wholes in the roster to go pretty much BPA in the draft. I’m not expecting any major signings. I still feel like a guy like Denico Autry could be a target to go oppo Hutch in FA.

Shave your head and yell and scream in elevators. I see you @Sofatso

I just don’t see ARSB nor this FO in that light. He might be a wide receiver but he’s embraced and embodied everything this team is
Including accepting that he’s way underpaid while delivering for lions. With the locker room watching , I don’t know how lions don’t do what it takes to keep him.
We didn’t see niners trade Debo and they had other elite guys to pay. In fact , niners have paid quite a few of their core guys.

Brads problem might be hitting on too many all pros in the same draft tho. It doesn’t help stagger the contracts too much.

In this draft that would be Jackson Powers-Johnson.

Almost no chance they let ARSB walk.

Also, one thing to keep in mind is the combination of winning + Dan Campbell/likeable coaches may result in better players wanting to play here.
