Breece Hall extended

Jets give Hall 3 year deal to replace franchise tag.

Obvious update - Gibbs is going to get paid a boatload.

From one hyperextension to another. Good for him.

Gibbs will break 20 per, I think.

And he deserves every single penny that he will get. RBs take an absolute pounding and while I’m typically not a fan of paying RBs huge money for that sole reason (short shelf life), Gibbs is worth it. He’s special.

Even if he falls apart Breece’s Pieces are pretty good.

Gibbs = 4yr, $17.5M APY. new money.

Well, if that’s all he gets, it’s also got to come with a lifetime supply of Grey Poupon mustard.

Its gonna be higher.

3years $62m $20.67aav ~$38m guaranteed.

highest at the position. (After his 5th year option) no way a RB gets a 4th year. If he does it will be completely bogus. All flufff. 0 guaranteed.

Total contract will be 4 years $76.3m $19.08aav $52m guaranteed.

But with the void year and the last year pretty much not guaranteed at all.

His cap hit will be around $15m the next 3 years. Then cut/trade/extended/reworked after the 2028 season.

I agree it’s going to be a 3 year extension and likely around $20 million AAV… Hope they get it done before Bijan signs. It won’t be the 4 or 5 year extension that QB/WR/OT/DE get bc of the position

i wouldn’t doubt it if Gibbs gets closer to WR money.

Zero chance.

The Lions could franchise tage him for 3 consecutive years (after his 5th year option) and it would STILL be cheaper than ARSB’s deal.

Guys who get early extensions after their 3rd season don’t typically get the highest AAV at their position, because there is a trade off given for the team giving them a large amount of guaranteed money 2 years earlier than required.

It could happen… but I wouldn’t say it is a slam dunk by any means.

Sewell and ARSB got top of market signing after year 3.

Hutch after 3.5

Hurch wasn’t the highest at his position.

Most teams so NOT make players the highest paid after their 3rd season.

Lamb, Chase, and Jefferson all got paid after 4 years.

Lions didn’t have the 5th year option on ARSB, which gave him more leverage than a 1st round pick after his 3rd season.

None of these guys are RB’s

True.

And… Saquon & CMC are the ONLY 2 RBs that have AAVs higher than the $15.25 million that Beeece Hall just landed.

The key to those deals… is that they are BOTH 2 year extensions.

I am not saying Gibbs won’t set a new market high for RBs, but I also don’t think it is a guaranteed deal like the post above made it sound. Holmes seems to like to reward his guys, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all. Is it necessary to get a deal done?

Fair points. However Franchise tags for the next 3 seasons is projected at

27 - $16.8m

28 - $18.4m

29 - $20.1m

Thats $18.45m aav so i guess the contract would be under that. So say 3 year $53m $17.7m aav $30m guaranteed. So ~$12m aav for the next 3 years then, cut/ trade/ extension after 2028 realistically

It’s doesn’t really matter.

They already rung the 5th year bell right? So add 3 years and 61M in top of that.

5.8M
15M
13M
18M
20M- age 28 in 2030

  • 10M void year in 2031?

Brad has been masterful. Watch Jack, and either Branch or Laporta get extended in the next 6 months along with Gibbs. My guess would be they want to see Jack in camp next

So like Deadstroke initially projected. That’s why he’s our cap Yoda.
