Looking like a rare miss on draft day from Holmes here. But we don’t really know yet…hoping for a pleasant surprise. He has no real tape to look to for answers. Even if he’s a 0T that comes in on 3rd and short he’d be of service. No idea what the staff has in mind with him but they obviously see something.
Do you really “miss” on 3rd rounders? Especially after 1 season? Remember Levi taking 3 years to get healthy and finally produce? Or Iffy, another 3rd rounder who needed time to develop and dealt (still is) with injuries? Martin been in the league less than 2 seasons and has been injured for half this year… Pump the brakes.
Pretty sure my comment was level headed and non-hyperbolic . So far, he looks like a miss. I hope I’m wrong.
I agree with both statements
He does look like a miss, but 3rd rounders are 50/50 anyhow. And Martin can still surprise, we really don’t know.
Even so, between McNeil, Joseph, Melifonwu, Hooker Homes’ 3rd rounders have been great so far
They much MUCH less than 50/50
It depends on how you define a hit. Agreed, they are very unlikely to become stars. McNeil and Joseph alone are worth all of Holmes’ 3rd rounders combined and more
This is why I don’t get my numpty in a bunch over trading da beanz for proven talent.
Roughly 16% of 3rd rounders become starters… Not pro bowlers (Kerby/McNeill) level players, just starters. If Martin can even become a rotational piece, it’s a hit.
I heard maybe December…still haven’t opened his 21 day practice window though. So not soon at all. We could use him for sure. Solid vet…that can play multiple positions. Not flashy but can give us solid reps and depth.
