This is why just swapping QBs for drives seems easier to do - than predetermined packages that will end up being prepped for later…
If like if Goff goes down with say concussion protocol, HH is expected because of the disruption inly (or mind set is predetermined) to go in and simply preform…. So if a backup QB and the whole offense can be mentally set for injuries- why not simply be proactive with it vs reactive?
This is a good take IMO.
It is just hard to do. But to your point. You either get the team and HH (in this case) prepped for this or you roll the dice on your season possibly.
I am expecting (hoping??) that HH gets a fair amount of the live reps in the pre-season. I do not feel like the offense has had any real turnover so it is not like Goff needs to get in sync with a new guy. So let HH get a healthy amount of live reps with the 1s.
I fully expect HH to get the majority of snaps in preseason. I don’t believe Goff played very many preseasons snaps last year, thinking it was only a handful.
Before we discuss different packages I want to know that Hooker can actually run the offense the Lions currently utilize. Once that is confirmed then you can expand for his athletic ability on top of the base offense.
My concern on HH has always been his ability or lack therof to run the playaction offense from under center. He hasn’t done this in college or barely in HS even.
