Empirically, the vast majority of the general public have been unable to do this
yeah, as most of you know, I was in the alcohol industry for 20 years. Iāve never struggled with addiction, but I do crave one to two cold beers upon arriving home from work.
And on the weekends that might spill into six or seven, if Iām with friends. I frequently take several weeks off just for health and mental clarity purposes.
But Iāve noticed on reta, a GLP3, that little nagging craving every night when I come home, just isnāt there anymore. It doesnāt even sound good most nights. Not bad per se - just āmehā
On one hand you are right
- my doctor already discussed everything you are tossing out expects the narcissism. Told about possible thyroid cancer, bone and muscle loss⦠and the counter measuresā¦. As Iām eating double the protein daily: I am literally on meat only intake itās goats milk and water⦠oh and lots of steamed rice! And the other peice is it cannot be long termā¦. For me, I feel absolutely fantastic as this is the best Iāve felt is a while⦠once I hit the goal the Iām off itā¦. Already the game plan. And Iām 33 pounds lighter right now and 13 pounds of my goal
- Now you are also technically correct on lifestyles. Discipline etc⦠but, Iām self reflecting on the fact I am person ly shocked how quick and efficient this injection is. I actually feel like Iām cheating but I know Iām not. I have done fasting, water only, and get the same results but it take lingers and starting the digestive system back up sucks as much as the fist five days of fasting before ketosis⦠point is Iām feeling like Iām cheating the system and wonder if you are actually harboring resentment from this perspective.
- My doctor also showed ly the rep sort of this actually marking the pancreas and liver healthier in the process: assuming you do it right.
- The are those that by choice or ignorance will abuse it and even hurt themselves⦠but not all
- Peace
Systematic review (36 studies included) in Annals published last month showed similar loss of lean mass (as a percentage of total weight loss) when comparing GLP agonists with lifestyle only weight loss
Good discussion.
I need to cut 30 lbs. Its my last big modifiable CVD risk I am not modifying, or at least not quickly ( slowly lost 20 laat 2 years, some of that is Jardiance, but not much). Would take my 10 year MACE risk from 15% to closer to 10%.
My willpower as it comes to diet lasts 2 weeks to 4 months. My willpower as regards working out is negative. 3 year gym membership, aināt gone once. Not my first rodeo on that front. COVID and natural lifecycle killed my softball and basketball nights after 30 years. My work contributes to the problem 80 days a year, though am trying to phase out the Car/Camera/14 hours type work. I do walk a mile a day. Probably need to bump that up. Will I?
Who knows! Magic 8 Ball says Odds Not Good and Check Back Later.
Cardiologist will prescribe me Wegovy. Not there yet. TBH am super terrified of retinal vascular problems side effect because my glaucoma is thiiiiiis close to really ā ā ā ā ā ā ā my life up. So, irrational, but thatās the way it is.
I always tell my peeps, You Canāt Understand or Engage with Irrationality or Emotionalism with Logic.
Itās like speaking Quebecois French to a tree. No Effect or Connection whatsoever.
Reeaallly need to get that 30ish off though. Way past time and is a gretaer risk the older I get as I turn 59 this week.
Thatās an important paper and reinforces what iāve been saying. And honestly, thatās not unique to GLPs. Crash dieting, severe calorie restriction, bariatric surgery, and even aggressive natural cutting phases can all lead to muscle loss if protein intake, resistance training, hydration, and recovery are neglected
What scares me is how quickly āmanyā Docs go straight to meds. True of opioid crisis, over medication of PTSD military folks, Metformin for diabetics and now GLP-1s. I do believe there are a lot of times where you can trust Dr. Google, learning about supplements, diet, exercise, sleep etc. that will get you and your body to where it needs to be without prescription drugs. Regular Docs almost NEVER discuss these options that tend to have much lower instances of side effects. I have to believe that there is something to this Dr. / Big Pharma relationship that is more about benefitting them, than actual patients. Just my humble opinion. I go to a doc that is both an MD and is a huge believer in non-traditional medicine. So he loaded me up with various supplements, KNOWING all about the prescription options available. That was telling IMO.
Agree / my doctor is the same ⦠fix it correctly first and the last response is meds and surgery
I agree. Thatās my concern too. Sure this may help some people who desperately need it and are severely overweight. But giving it to people who are a bit chubby or young children is when alarm bells start going off in my brain. These big pharma companies care about money first and foremost.
And what happens when you take someone off the drug? If they havenāt learned to eat healthy and exercise that weight is going come back fast.
Young kids are taking it?
Sad but true
I wish I was kidding. Imagine going through puberty, while a drug is nuking your proper human development. I canāt support that.
Like giving 6 year olds ADHD meds to focus on grade 1 material cause they have too much energy and want to run around and play

I was going through puberty while my jump shot was nuking my proper human development.
Rachel Bilson. Amazing.
Itās not gonna be ambulance chasers, itās gonna be the premier of the premier mass tort firms.
I worked for one in law school on the Vioxx and Propulsid litigation.
The founder of the firm bought a chunk of the saints when he was named chief plaintiffās counsel for the tobacco cases. These arenāt billboard lawyers.
There are some very very capable attorneys in this field and I suspect they have been building this case since these suckers hit the market.
That show was loaded with smoke shows. Now that Iām an old man i can appreciate what Caleb saw in Julie Cooper lol

What do you think is happening with GLP-1 agonists that is comparable to Merck/Vioxx. Merck was found liable for multiple criminal and civil FDA violations having to do with labeling, marketing, data manipulation, and failure to warn.
Weāve been using these medications for 20 years now. We have substantial data on their risks, benefits, and role in therapy.
Thanks, Iāll hang up and listen.

Donāt. Your feedback as someone actually āin the fightā is invaluable.
I am very interested to see a tort attorneyās view on this
There is no free lunch with human physiology.
We will find out what the serious side effects are down the road. Whether that trade off is worth it, time will tell. I have 10 coworkers at least that lost 100s of pounds. From super obese to rail thin, skin hanging everywhere. Some were younger people too, which I dont get, personally. Under 30 no one should be overweight but thats not reality in western countries.
Anyways, my dad nearly died from Vioxx and only a close family friend coming over and letting himself in as he does and finding my dad on the floor saved his life.
I suffer a serious chronic issue from a āsafeā medication I took in my early 20s.
The pharma companies dont care about you. That was proven a LONG time ago. Whether or not this stuff turns out to be super poison or just merely bad, hard to say.
