Barnes is scared to tackle? WTF are you talking about?
Completely agree. Blindfolded darts.
Year one for AG he described us as being a 2-high shell coverage team. I imagine our move away from that was the emergence of Kirby alone.
We drafted Barnes to play alongside AA. In Capers’s Steelers terms, that’s a Buck & Mack. One plays downhill engaging free run blockers, keeping the other clean to play sideline-to-sideline pursuing the ball carrier. I don’t know what terminology we use today, but that’s how things unfolded early under AG.
What we’ve morphed into is questionable due to a couple things. This is the incongruity I see:
My DL is still showing a 34 design. Big End (4/5 tech on the offensive strong side), 0/1 NT type, 3-tech and Rush End. This is typical of a 34 hybrid team. BUT…. where’s our OLB that can bring the heat covering up the Big End? WE DON’T HAVE IT!!! Not Barnes, (remember, that was all the hype last year), not Nowaske and definitely not Campbell. OK, fine, you don’t have an OLB and dropped all the efforts in that Julian Okwara mold from a few years ago. Now, let’s focus on Davenport-type D-Ends. GREAT. THEN WHERE ARE THEY? LOL. Lacy is NOT it. Derrick Moore? Hass? Who’s my guy opposite Hutchinson, for the 5th year in a row?
All Holmes had to do was add depth at every position with decent players, but he needs to do real work to find those players. I’m good at observing people, and he doesn’t look like a hard worker to me.
When he trashed the table after drafting Penei in front of Sheila, I thought that was very unprofessional. You can’t act like that in front of an owner.
I think he holds donut meetings.
His background is in car sales too. I’m just not convinced about this guy.
Seattle traded for their WR and 2LBs. No not 1st round picks. But mid draft picks. And filled their obvious holes in the roster.
Do i need to bring up the trades Philly made?
Or SF and KC what they traded?
you can’t fill immediate holes with draft capital.
Brad did that and i fully expected gap year this year. I said that immediately after the draft.
The free agents they brought in or Band-Aids. Minimum deals for one year.
In the draft picks, we’re not gonna be immediate help outside of Miller
If Brad doesn’t do anything substantial this trade deadline, the season is toast. And if he tries to draft his way out of this problem again this off-season you might as well just fire them all now.
■■■■ them picks is a Los Angeles Rams derived term. Les Snead used the term to describe his habit of trading first round picks for star veteran players. More winning teams than not hang on to their first round picks. Sure, trades are made. Brad made one just two years ago. Trading day 2 or day 3 picks to plug a hole is not what is meant by the F them picks mantra.
Law would have replaced Raymond. That was a big loss. I was looking forward to watching that kid play.
Gil-Howard has been a tremendous help with the pass rush. He’s drawing a lot of attention at times. Directly leading to sacks. He would have a couple more had he gotten there a fraction quicker than the other player that did.
