He can move on with this life now.
Hopefully a lesson has been learned.
Given this was settled the day of his Pro Day, I might be more forgiving of the performance.

This is proof that he is a quitter and not a fighter!!!
On the whole …
This dude is uber talented. I said this last week, but I cannot imagine the anxiety-riddled fuckery I’d be experiencing if I were involved in an accident where someone died. The pinnacle achievement of your life to this point is saddled with questions about your character due to a lapse in judgment in which another human—a friend, no doubt—perished.
“Well he put on 9 pounds and couldn’t finish lifting weights.”
Well, no ■■■■■■■ shit.
From the article:
Stephens said Carter never left the accident scene without being told he could leave. According to Stephens, Carter stopped his car and ran toward the wrecked car while his passenger called 911.
“Even after being informed that he could leave, Mr. Carter returned to the scene at the request of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department to answer additional questions and continued to cooperate in the investigation,” Stephens said.
According to Stephens, Carter had not been drinking alcohol and was not under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substances.
@rw979802 this information changes a lot in regards to what we did and did not know…Your hypothesis about his intentions were on point. Kudos to you. I am genuinely glad to hear this…I feel for the kid…for everyone involved.
The curious case of Jalen Carter. In 42 days and some-odd hours we’ll find out which team drafts him.
I take him at 6. And I might even move to nab him if at all possible. In nothing else, he needs an environment like Dan has built to thrive.
with all the eyebrow raising about his pro day we might get him at 18 instead.
There’s a decent shot 4 QBs go in the top 5. Yeah yeah it’s never happened before but that doesn’t mean it won’t. 3 of the current top 5 teams picking have no starter whatsoever. All it takes is one team wanting to move up and it’s 4. All it takes is Seattle taking a QB to eventually replace Geno.
There’s a first for everything. Hell probably 1/3rd of this boards members have had sex with a girl before. Don’t worry for those who haven’t. It’s never happened before but it might someday!
I’m not going to dig in one way or the other, but there is some wordsmithing there.
Who “informed him he could leave”?
There is enough reassurances here that a whole bunch of Bears fans will be cussing this morning, but I’m not sure he passes the MCDC test.
Sure but he’s had work ethic concerns before all this legal stuff came about. He’s also had issues with endurance during games when you see him getting winded or just not putting in the effort on some plays. These issues didn’t just pop up on his pro day.
I just think there’s too many red flags for the Lions to even consider him. Just not a culture fit based on what we know, maybe things play out differently behind the scenes in the interview process but I’d bet a large sum of money that he’s off the Lions board. Lets just hope he’s taken before 6 so a better prospect without the issues isn’t taken before the Lions (cough Tyree Wilson cough)
He’s crafty though. Used that extra nine pounds to tilt the scales of justice in his favor.
We better hope the Bears don’t take him at 9 so we can watch him terrorize us for the next 10 years!
Take him at 6 and don’t look back!
Reminds me of Jordan Davis, who struggled this season with endurance issues and his ability to stay on the field for the Eagles… This was before his injury, The supposed run-stopping force in the middle at 6-6 330 lbs. He exhibited these same traits in his final season at Georgia, without any off field issues that I’m aware of.
Don’t buy the lawyer speak, that’s their job. Can’t expect DC & his culture environment to rehabilitate everyone. in general. Don’t expect all to be choir boys either. But the line must be drawn somewhere.
Hard pass for me, but his defenders certainly entitled to their opinion.
This is corrupt lawyer speak if I’ve ever heard it. His buddies and UGA don’t have authority to let Carter leave the scene of an accident. He’s lucky he hasn’t been charged for it yet. And the police told him to come back because he never should have left in the first place.
No offense, but it’s clear it doesn’t matter what comes out or is said on this topic. Your mind is made up and that’s that.
I still don’t know but for me, this changes my outlook some. But dismissing this as total bullshit and believing fully that the worst is true is just a dug in stance.
I think it would come down to a face to face meeting for me. Im worried about where he’s mentally at.
I do agree we’ve built a great chemistry and family in Detroit which he could benefit from. I would need to see his face and mannerisms upon tough questions to get a better fix on him
I hope they do just that. A motivated and humbled Carter could truly turn our Dline into a force to be reckoned with.
@QBhater, thanks, truly appreciate the kind words
