CFB Week 3, Sept 13 edition; top ten games & players to watch

The guys at the top haven’t been great, but the second tier of “guys who could rise” have been pretty good, starting with Mateer and Mendoza (Moore is rising from further off the page).

Actually kind of reminds me of what happened last year.

Also Carson Beck returning with a vengeance lol

Yeah he’s really helping himself. I think everyone knows what his ceiling is now, but he could Kenny Pickett his way into the first.

Still think (Personally) Sellers is gonna go the highest out of this class if it continues as it is and his injury is not long term

Upside is way too god to ignore on him, and I think he’s more polished than Richardson

Needs a year on a bench, but hard to not like those upsides

I think Pribula is going to enter the conversation. That may be day 2 still though and day 2 grade QBs can slide but I think he’s got a chance to keep rising.

Then all of the RS Sophs (Sellwrs, Chiles, Moore, Marcel Reed who never gets mentioned for some reason).

I think it will be a solid class but one that takes a while to sort out.

The four QBs may be something like Nuss, Mateer, Mendoza and one or two of the RS Sophs. So different than preseason rankings but not to a crazy extent.

The problem for me listing Pribula as a potential #1 overall is the lack of traits. He’s gonna have to Burrow/Mayfield his way in there with leadership and moxie, both of which he has in spades (I watched quite a bit of him this morning actually). Just a narrower path to that spot imo. But potential 1st rounder for sure.

I think he probably goes back to school, but he’ll probably go high if he comes out. In his case it’s probably the earlier the better. Better to be the AR mystery box than the known quantity like Milroe.

I don’t expect Beau to get up to number one overall. First round? Maybe. Depends on how the season goes. As of traits, compared to what/whom? His traits are as good as Nuss’ are.

Those look like big boy throws to me. And it’s not crazy zip but they aren’t excessively loopy either. And he was Penn St. Run QB in those packages last year. I think for a WC system it’s a pretty good foundation of tools. Like Baker like. A bit less zip but significantly more athleticism and that kind of tenacity.

Most top 5 guys have a plus trait, usually the arm though sometimes it’s the juice like Kyler. I don’t think Pribula’s arm is too weak for the pros or anything, but I think it would be bottom half of the league. Like Burrow. And he’s a very good athlete but not an elite one.

But like I said, Burrow, Baker, Bryce… if they can show something to overcome the lack of elite traits, it doesn’t matter (and in hindsight, Baker’s arm was underrated). Just hard to do that in one year, all of those guys showed leadership/clutchitude/processing/etc… for a minimum of two. You can throw Tua in there as well. The last guy I can really remember with an average arm to go top 5 after not having a ton of college experience under his belt was Mark Sanchez.

Sure. It’s not a cannon. That’s why I think he’s WCO leaning and threw out Gannon as a comp. That’s the style. Who wants that style? :man_shrugging:

Mateer is a fun college qb, but there is no comparison in their arms. Moore has an absolute cannon but also has touch.

You think Moore’s arm is stronger than Mateer’s. I don’t think that is the consensus view. Touch, layering throws, etc. sure. Mateer is not all that refined but he’s got a hose IMO.
