are you at Gameday"

My buddies donā€™t want to go down there at the moment, so no.

Gameday was here twice last year, and Iā€™ve been about two other times at Ohio State, so I donā€™t personally need to go, even though itā€™d be very cool.

Some of those trophies are silly. Indiana and msu is gross

Iā€™ve been thinking about this for a bit and Iā€™m not sure if this even qualifies as a hot take or not, but here it isā€¦

Lincoln Rileyā€™s supposed offensive genius was merely the result of a talent gap and unique conference wide defensive shortcomings during a unique period of Big 12 history.

Could be true but they put up some big points out of conference. Baker lit Georgia up in the semis. Hammered Auburn when he was OC (Stoopsā€™s last game as head coach). Put up a lot of points in a win @ Ohio State, 55 against Florida in Rattlerā€™s first year, 47 against Oregon the Caleb Williams year, 49 @ Nebraska his last year. Iā€™m sure there was some context to some of those games (surprisingly bad defenses those years?), but heā€™s always been pretty successful OOC.

To me the problem is - and maybe always will be - his defenses. Their offense puts too much stress on them. I mean they scored 30 against the Burrow LSU championship team, but gave up 63! They scored 35 against Alabama Kylerā€™s year, but gave up 45! (including 28 straight to start the game).

He has alot he still needs to clean up but the upside is undeniably there

Think hes a late 1st round pick, but i think some teams will fall in love with his physicals.

I wont lie

the Rams are the team im watching when it comes to Cam Ward

they know Stafford doesnt have long, and him sitting a year behind him, with a plethora of weapons and the high motion rate is a scary prospect to me.

Mullings definitely the lead back for UM.

He is so good.

But look at the offensive talent on those teams. And his scheme isnā€™t particularly inventive IMO. The Georgia game you are speaking of was before Smart had really gotten those Georgia defenses into the stratosphere. Iā€™d have to go through those games one by one but it wouldnā€™t surprise me one bit to see the his skill dudes with definitive advantages.

I think heā€™s a competent offensive coach but I see no definitive evolution. Heā€™s a bit like Spurrier in that he does what he does. Once Spurrierā€™s asymmetric talent gap had been neutralized he was revealed to be a fine offensive coach but not the guru that he had been previously described as.

Heā€™s a pretty good coach but IMO the steady state of Lincoln Rileyā€™s offensive reputation is incoming and itā€™s several rings below where it was prior.

His development from last season to this season as a runningback seems huge to me. His feet and vision have really improved from my point of view.

Heā€™ll be gone before the Rams draft. I think the Rams circle the wagons enough to at least threaten for a WC.

Ehhhhh, i think if the Rams want him, they will get him

They tried to trade up for Brock Bowers last draft, and they traded up for Fiske, I think that if they believe he could be the guy, Les Snead will go ā– ā– ā– ā–  those picks to get him.

It will be interested to see where Ward is consensually, cause I think he will be all over the place Mock wise.

Also, Rams still got some opponents left to fight (Vikings, Packers, 49ers, Cardinals, 2X Seahawks, Bills, Eagles, Jets)

not an easy task, they will get Kupp, Nacua and the other boys back, but It aint an easy road.

Riley is well known for incorporating a ton of pre and post snap options into his play design. Most notably, the slide RPO with the TE sliding against the run scheme that had taken over college footballā€¦came from USC Lincoln Riley.

I think itā€™s also fair to just recognize his ability to develop QBs, which is a big part of being a successful offensive coach.

I did not know that though Iā€™m also pretty skeptical of the lone authorship that you are describing but if you say so.

I think this is certainly true though perhaps not to the extent that one might assume from afar. Miller Moss may be the best example. Hurts to an extent I guess. Murray is just a unique talent and Baker was pretty damn good. Iā€™d argue that he actually did a poor job developing Caleb who had talent in the stratosphere but never learned nuances of proper QB play.
