Chargers waive former 1st round DL Jerry Tillery

The more they say… the more this looks like a player not wanting to be there any longer.

First… there is the obligatory GM comment that this decision is “best for the player and the team”…

.
.

.

Then…. there is mention of a back injury during a team activity…
that was the reason given for not playing in week 9….
but he was NOT waived with an injury designation a week later.

.

.

And… the team just lost starter Austin Johnson for the season…
so cutting Tillery now would definitely seem to be strange timing.

It’s very interesting that the Chargers couldn’t trade him for anything.

He had a “we don’t want you back” injury.

At least we know Holmes is looking for DT’s and not content with the current trash heap we have been employing.

However the Raiders weren’t the only team that wanted Tillery. ESPN’s Adam Schefterreports “Eight teams - Las Vegas, Detroit, Carolina, Indianapolis, San Francisco, New York Jets, New York Giants, and Kansas City - put in waiver claims for former Chargers’ first-round pick Jerry Tillery, who was assigned to the Raiders.”

wouldn’t know I don’t ever follow other teams , what their doing , what players they have or anything unless maybe we are playing them. The Detroit Lions are my favorite team–I could give a #$@# less about other teams…besides I was joking about The LIONS picking up Tillery—because it says the CHARGERS waived him…and play Tillery against the Chargers —who we play next .

They did waive him, it just happened to be in 2022. :innocent:

There’s only one thing to say:
