Charlie Weis on the Lions

Not the way the played against the Lions.

And so are we

I saw a team that lead the game most of the way. A team that forced the tempo. A gritty physical team that the DB’s made hard hits on catched balls. A team that played physical man coverage, where they jammed receivers, bumped and challenged them their entire route. A team that aggressively attacked the ball and forced fumbles. A defensive line that had their hands up, pushed the pocket, tipping the ball. A defensive back 7 that aggressively contested the receivers. This physicality forces mental errors. Forces fumbles, dropped passes etc.

This is how MP’s defense is designed. They allow yards, long drives but they play physical ball that wears the opponents down and forces them to make mistakes. The design is to wreak havoc, confuse and mentally wear your opponent.

They stopped and we still gave them 5 seconds to throw it. Geesh!
