Assuming MP stays, I don’t see us taking Weaver—though I do like his burst off the snap. MP likes his DL to have long arms.
Mid/Late round pick. What I look for in pass rushers is: Burst(check), bend and technique. I only saw burst. Didn’t see any speed to power transition. But it’s hard to deny production. Some guys you just can’t explain. I’d give him a 3rd/4th rd grade.
Patricia doesn’t want sacks. He wants guys who are not disruptive, cost a motherload and get token pressure in glorified preseason games.

Weaver came here (I work at Boise State) at 300+ LBs. He worked down to 265 his first year but still looks pudgy. He has 3 less sacks than Young and about 36 over 3 years. He has a good burst and speed. And yes he is playing against lesser competition but he is also play with lesser team mates. There is not one other player on the D line or LB that will make it to the NFL. Every team we play game plans for him and he still has 13.5 sacks. Unfortunately (for my Lions), scouts have been here for every game and he is probably a late first rounder.

I have him mocked to us in the 2nd round but I think he’ll slim-down even more and will probably go higher after his combine workouts. He could be a top 20 pick when it’s all said and done. He can do everything a 3-4 team wants and his production is better than Chase Young’s for 3 years.

Did you even watch the video? Literally, the first play they showed he lowers his shoulder and ducks right under the blocker showing his bend! The second play, he did it again but didn’t have to bend as far.

Yes I did. Thanks! Anyone can do something once or even a few times during a season. He doesn’t have bend. In his highlights, which usually means his best moments, he doesn’t CONSISTENTLY bend around the corner. And he doesn’t show much hand technique. If you’d like a class…My office hours are from 9…to 5!

12/14/19: Weaver has been very good for Boise State with 50 tackles, 13.5 sacks, a pass defended and forced fumble. Team sources say that Weaver is a good college player who is a try-hard guy, but he has physical limitations for the NFL.
Weaver wins with his hands probably even more-so than with his feet.

Weaver has tallied 28 tackles for loss and 20.5 sacks in his first two seasons at Boise State. As a redshirt sophomore in 2018, he demonstrated incredibly developed pass-rushing moves and edge-collapsing bend reminiscent of Nick Bosa.
He just needs to display the latter more often. Occasionally, he’s pushed past the pocket when he doesn’t play super low. However, very few outside rushers possess the effective, wide-ranging hand work and ability to bend the corner of Weaver. His burst off the snap is impressive too. The 6-3, 265-pound prospect has all the makings of being a first-round pick in 2020 if he builds on his first two stellar seasons with the Broncos.
