They should, but they wonāt. It begins and ends with Jerry Jones.
Jerruh is still obsessed with the fantasy that the Cowboys are a good team that is going through a tough stretch. He really believes if the coaches just push the right buttons, they will start winning again.
Jerruh is the epitmoe wanting to win, but only if they win his way. All offseason people told him the Cowboys roster overacheived and they werenāt good enough. He gave everyone the finger and then paid out stupid money to Dak and CeeDee. How stupid? 40% of the Cowboys entire salary cap is being taken up by TWO players. Thatās even worse than when the Lions had Stafford, Calvin and Suh taking up the majority of our cap.
All season, the media has been asking the question why didnāt Jerruh sign Derrick Henry? We all know how he has reacted to that. When the deadline hit and with Dak hurt, reporters asked Jerruh if Dallas would be sellers at the deadline. Jerruh doubled down and said NO, we are right there, and we are buyers! We are working on a trade for a WR we liked coming out of the draft. Then we find out itās Jonathan Mingo, who has been awful in the NFL, for a FOURTH round pick!
As for why he wonāt play Lance, itās two reasons. First and foremost, Jerruh believes that would indicate that the Cowboys have given up, and Jerruh still wants to sell the fantasy that Dallas is a good team, and not the soft bunch of posers they are. Second reason is, anyone whose watched Trey Lance knows he is terrible. Jerruh is getting criticized for every move he makes, and if Lance sucks, people will talk even more about the fact the ābest GM in the NFLā just gave up back to back 4th round picks for Lance and Mingo.
We will see what happens, but barring an injury to Rush, I donāt think Lance plays at all. Jerruh doesnāt want to develop players. He wants to sell tickets/hype.
Dak about to enter the longest streak of not randomly crapping the bed in his careerā¦

Lance is a UFA and Dak is locked up for 4 more years.
If Lance were to show any kind of promiseā¦.
he will be leaving to a team where he has a slight chance to take over if a guy fails (Carolina, Browns, Indy?).
Lance has no chance of a future in Dallas due to Dakās new contract.
Throw in. Cap balancer. Draft Bailey Zappe and he will take over mid season.

OK Look, I donāt wish an injury or illness on anybody-that goes for opponents to, that goes for pulls, tearās , breaks, strains , or anything. Yeah I liked Dak way back, around his rookie season, but focused ALL my attention to OUR team , our players and staff-what WE accomplish together. I hope the best for Dak and hope he makes some magical come-back after he is treated, best to ya man.

Goffās weakness is that he can only complete passes when the receiver catches it. He hasnāt figured out how to complete passes that are not caught. He needs to figure that out to be an āeliteā QB in this league.
