Was it Caldwell or Schwartz
Normally, I don’t bother engaging on threads started by the OP
That said…
- Jim Caldwell was a coach that the players loved.
- Jim Caldwell was at his best as a leader through the week & was not a great in-game decision coach.
- Jim Caldwell was not good at clock management late in games.
Now replace the name Jim Caldwell with “Dan Campbell”
There are more similarities than many would want to admit
The differences are that
- They are polar opposites emotionally
- Back to Back Division Championship level success
- Dan did actually collect a couple playoff wins and almost got us to the Super Bowl
- Dan took a team in “rebuild” mode and built success up from a low point whereas Jim inherited a really good team and had his best year the first year…then worked his way down from there.
I would take DC over Caldwell 100 times out of 100, but there are some similarities.
And I could argue that Similarities #2 and #3 are mainly what has held DC back from even greater success (plus an insane amount of injuries on D last year). I bet that there are several “do-overs” he wishes he had in the NFCC epic collapse
He’s got to respond. I think I still agree but it’s been two weeks in a row. We’re healthier on that side at this point. We have a must win game in six days. Kelvin and the guys must answer the bell.
Clark Kent is Superman. You just have to get past the glasses.
After the loss to the Packers, former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell erupted live on national television, pointing straight at current head coach Dan Campbell and coldly declaring that he “DOES NOT DESERVE TO LEAD THE TEAM ANOTHER DAY”!!
Not stopping there, Caldwell demanded that owner Sheila Ford Hamp be immediately fired — a public blow so fierce it sent shockwaves across the entire NFL, all in the midst of the Lions’ recent erratic form, swinging between wins and losses, further fueling doubts about Campbell’s ability to guide the team toward a safe and flawless season…
