I love how at the end he says “the standards won’t change but the expectations will.”

And the same can be said for us. I know I am expecting playoffs at the minimum next season.

I think we all expect playoffs and competing for the division title. And I love how Campbell says that and puts it right out there… doesn’t sugarcoat anything!

Winning season in year 2 of a massive rebuild. Not bad Coach Dan, not bad at all. Playoff victory in ford field next year!

There is an art to asking good questions and most of these reporters DONT have it. Great session by DC as always though!

You can say that again! I’m not sure who asked it, but somebody brought up the road loss to Minnesota and if DC still regretted it. And his answer was awesome. Like you really want to bring that up again, now, but I’ll answer it again for you anyway but read between the lines that’s a dumb question.

I know most on here already know this, but DC is just a different style coach and I love it. I can’t think right now of one other NFL HC that would have a presser like this and come across like he does. I know Caldwell was liked by the players but DC is totally different and you can sense not only do they love him as a HC but would actually run through walls for him.

Agree 100% you said it perfectly

Team wins 8 out of 10 games to end the season, ask a question about a game from back in September. They teach you that in Sports Journalism 101 of course.

Seriously… “hey now that you missed the playoffs how much do you regret that call in minnesota”

For real… really?

It’s like when your wife or girlfriend keeps bringing something up from 3 years ago… not annoying at all…haha

Lol exactly!

“Honey what’s the matter tonight?”

“You know I still can’t believe you did/said… I mean that just really bothers me”

“I apologized! I’m sorry!”

“Well I was just really hurt”

Just a really dumb question… and what did you expect the answer to be?

Ask a question where you might get some insight into something or other instead of just a rehash of what you already know the answer to

He called him John - not sure who that is but what an idiotic thing to do.

My bro and I have always talked about how we don’t need a Bill Walsh clone, or a Parcels clone, or a Bill Belichek clone. We need to find our own.

I believe we did, finally.

At least he took it easy on him, as he does 99% of the time with the press.

I covered high school sports as a reporter for a while and man this one football coach just hated the media. And wasn’t shy about it.

Covered him all season and once asked something post-game (I should add this was after A WIN. They were like 7-0) to the effect of “Coach, nice win. Your team doesn’t usually have many if any turnovers. Can you talk about the 8 turnovers tonight?”

“We only had 7.”

“The 7 plus the missed 4th down.”

“4th downs don’t count as turnovers.”

… really? No shit coach. I’m sorry I didn’t say “Coach blah blah 7 turnovers and the TURNOVER on downs.”

He knew what I f-n meant. He was just always an a-hole like that.

Anywho, we got a keeper in MCDC media relations wise.

Yeah - it looked like the question irritated him at first but instead of responding poorly he took a deep breath and answered with humility and gentleness. Pretty impressive. I hope the media guys recognize this and don’t advantage of his humility behind the podium.

I am not sure how to feel about this story unless you tell me if you were sitting up straight or not.
