DB blitzes

I would really like us to be more like the Raiders, give me that 45% pressure rate with less blitzing!!

First time anyone has ever said be more like the Raiders.

Well they do one thing right according to that chart :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

it looked like our blitzes were getting home early and the pressure was a big reason why we went up 21 to 0

But instead of continuing to get more rattled. They settled down and started attacking our blitz effectively. Credit to their adjustments and their quarterback, who didn’t let the early pressure affect his later play.

I would’ve liked Forrest to show blitz pre-snap and drop out later in the second half. We were facing a young quarterback. First half let him feel the pressure Second half make him make adjustments on the fly.

I think we got a little too aggressive, and a little too confident in our lead. I hope the coaching staff learned a lesson.

It’s not blitz rate though. Flores blitzed a ton this week in which the blitzers were aligned further back pre snap. No idea re: the Raiders.

Well it is when the blitz is only producing a 24% pressure rate compared to the Raiders who get 45% pressure at half the blitz rate.
Our blitz efficiency is one of the worse in the league according to this chart behind only the Bucs and Titans from what I can tell from this.

So that tells me one of 2 things, 1) our blitz packages are not aligned with our DB’s strengths (DB’s can’t do what is being asked) or 2) the blitz alignments are too apparent and the opposing QB’s can read them too easy and line adjustments/blocking is being changed to nullify the blitz

Maybe I am reading too much into this chart

I get that. I was more so thinking of the Vikings. They sent additional rushers on like 86% of pass plays. But clearly many were players that committed after the snap.

Perhaps that is something we should lean into more. I always loved the Jarrad Davis delayed blitz looks in the Patricia days. Devin White would be a weapon on those. Just one example.

Flores is a unicorn when it comes to DC’s IMHO
Be hard to duplicate what he does

Agree on the delayed blitzes by the LB’s, I believe Barnes could even carry that role

I’m not meaning to suggest that we should try and emulate Flores. I agree that we would struggle to pull it off. What I am saying is that the data in this thread seems to suggest that when we are bringing pressure we are showing a pressure look and I’m not sure that doing that so often is wise. Although we may be showing pressure on one side of the formation and bringing it elsewhere. That wouldn’t show up in the data in this thread.

Is that how AG got the Jets job???

He told Woody and his kids he plays lots of Madden…

and his defense is killer on franchise mode.:smirking_face::open_mouth:
