December on is when it matters vs over/underperforming Defense Offense

I’ve been loving Lions football this year. For the first time in ever, I’ve seen a team literally dictate the odds week in and week out regardless of how many injuries we’ve had on defense thru complimentary football.

After a certain amount of time / wins that can’t be due to luck. It’s a sign of a well-coached team that prepares ALL players week in and week out and not just all their stars so that you have a really solid roster. It’s what makes the credo “next man up” actually stand for something that you can count on come next week’s game.

But the truth is that no matter what the stats say, I feel like the defense has been over-performing and keeping this team in the W column lately when it was actually the BJ offense’s “easier” role to play.

Put another way, I feel like the O is under-performing and not being efficient enough at times to close out games by themselves at a critical point in the season. If the O can’t do it when they’re getting help from an injury ridden D against lesser teams, then how can we expect them to just turn that switch on in December when the best teams are on the schedule?

I think we’ll see where we’re at in terms of just how good BJ really is in the next 2 weeks facing GB and the Bills. If it comes down to being shootouts, then it’s on Ben and the O to uphold their end of the bargain and come to the rescue of an ailing D vs being the other way around. It’s your time to shine. Prove us right!
