Yea, I don’t lose sleep over picks being traded, just doesn’t matter to me. No idea who would have or wouldn’t have been the choices with those potential picks.
Focus on who they took and go from there.
Not saying I don’t understand your point, I do, I just don’t fret over it. I love the first two picks, absolutely love them for what they bring to the team with their own play.
Then absolutely love what they do to make others better around them, yes that is an assumption, but I feel confident in it.
Teslaa I see the reasoning and will deal with it in 2026 not April 2025.
Agree. I posted earlier somewhere exactly who was taken with each pick and we who we took with the picks given back.
We got Mahogany with one of the picks we “got back” in the Vaki trade for example.
Vakis
Mahogany
Jaylin Simpson
Micah Abraham
Que Robinson
Now- I like Robinson, but at 243 pounds with supposed 4.65 speed abs 6 college career sacks?
Now that the trade has played itself out… I’m taking our haul.
Manu
Milroe
both projects as if they were in the same drafts, then I’m near certain that Hooker goes ahead of Milroe. I still have hope Manu can be an OT of the future.
Oh yeah…
Isaac Tesla
Miles Frazier
2026 6th
Tai Felton
2026 late 3rd
2026 compensatory 3rd
If Teslaa is close to what our brass expects- how bad was it really?
I never liked Hooker based on age and scheme so I agree. Many compared his athleticism to Goff’s, but I compared him to Fields or Jackson types.
Hooker was a QB who could run a bit, and also threw well to wide open targets in that offense. Also comparing the maturity and leadership to his peer group that couldn’t legally drink yet didn’t paint an accurate picture either.
Pickett, Levis, Penix, Nix, Hooker, Shough, Gabriel, Haener, S Bennett….
That the 24-26 year old rookie QB crop over the last 5 year rounds 1-4…. Bo nix had just turned 24 a few weeks prior to the draft.
It’s more complicated than that though. You’re seeing the receiver room in total, but what you really have to view it as “what’s his role?” more than receiver 1-5. There’s no doubt they brought this guy in to be an X and he’s the only other X on the roster not named Patrick. For instance if Patrick went out I don’t think you can put Raymond in there to help fill his role because he’s a completely different receiver.
Also this isn’t me saying not to question the pick which of course you’re allowed to do that. I’m just saying kind of view his role/skillset(which of course he hasn’t proven yet, but theoretically)
I get that and given a bit of separation from the draft I have been able to more objectively look at how our draft went. I have looked at a lot of Teslaas games and he is definitely an athlete. I still don’t really like the pick and really wanted an edge earlier (though I do like the edge we took). That said my big problem was less the pick and more the reaction I got from some (not all) that made it seem I was being somehow disloyal by disagreeing with it. Either way I fully think the lions are gonna rock again this year and barring another catastrophic year of injuries I see us being back as a serious contender.
Thanks. The other ones are sexy enough to justify the capital…. However if he’s a plus blocker, can move the chains and gets 5-7 red zone TDs he the perfect piece we need here
