Defensive rank

I’m probably one of the few around here who thinks Shep can run a top defense with some injury luck. He started out strong last year for a rookie DC.

And it does sound like an overhaul of scheme is in the offing, with Dan focused a lot of that side of the ball as well. Bro knows ball.

I do think if the D sucks Shep will the hook after this season. I trust Dan to know whether he’s got the goods as a DC, and he seems to think he does. Must be on a fairly short leash, though.

I think Sheppard is also a great motivator. In the grand scheme of things that probably doesn’t mean a ton but it at least deserves a mention.

Zero blitz rate didn’t make the threshold for Shep. Curious how steeply that dropped. Will add access to the underlying data charts so people can get details beneath what makes the visual cut. A bit more variance in coverage approach than AG.

Rank may unfortunately be the right word here.

The most rank smell for me is a carcass. When I’m hiking and smell that, first I hope it’s not a human, and then second I just want to get away from that odor. Vultures love it, though.

I thought it started out promising but the collapse on D last year was odd. Injuries of course but we had them in 2024 and weathered that significantly better. Though chicken mousse out of chicken shit did seem to be AG’s specialty.

Small sample sizes can skew means alot. Medians not so much.

This is helpful. Any of this stuff. It has a blindspot for low tech solutions at times and I only have so much bandwidth. I do have this in places essentially in the form of league placement rankings. I’ve struggled to get rankings inside cross charitable charts to be behave but think I got the handle in that. Needs to be more ubiquitous perhaps.

That doesn’t necessarily remove small sample size altogether but I think fans are always wanting to compare in their analysis so in the least it’s a nice consolation prize.

Significantly better, agreed. and Shep was on that staff, with a lot of the same players - it felt more to me that OCs around the league had figured him out just as much as felt injury related. Again, not saying the injuries didn’t contribute, but they also felt like a well timed cover for the fact that we straight up got out-coached in some of those games. There is a reason we hired the Giants coach on our offensive staff. He flat out, straight up, made our D look silly with back ups.
