DetNews: Why Lions are 'really happy' to have receiver Tim Patrick back in the fold

Patrick did a great job for us last year, and he’s priced right for us and his likely usage this year. It’s not disrespecting him to hope that TeSlaa somehow acclimates to the pros quickly and merits playing time ahead of Patrick. I think that’s unlikely early, but I can dream before reality strikes…

I think we are on the same page.
Holmes has managed the salary cap very well and has plenty of space THIS SEASON.
The crunch comes next season.
I don’t think Patrick or Raymond will be around next season.
Glasgow, Levi, and Amik are likely out after this year as well.
Decker is a possibility based on how well he continues to play and if Manu progresses rnough to start in 2026.

I could definitely see things shaking down like this, for the most part. Did T-Deck take a pay cut this offseason? I thought I read that somewhere? I hope he sticks around and think he will, regardless of Manu’s progress (that I’m predicting will be awesome).

Fingers crossed for Amik to stick around too. Not wanting toooo much turnover in the offseason, but totally trust our handsome GM.

Glad you mentioned this. Seems like it may be time to start cutting some of the original 2021 players that Dan and Brad started with (e.g. Raymond, Skip, and maybe even GG and AA, although I’m betting the latter two will hang on). Also some draft choices which haven’t worked out (BroMart, Sorsdal).

It will be interesting to see if they can put the old ties behind them and give others a shot. Or, whether they will have a soft spot for those that have been here from the start. I think they may have to put that aside and be ruthless in a couple cases.

Yeah, emotionally, Raymond would be very tough cut to make for Brad and Dan. He embodied the culture they needed to establish from the start.

So basically two thirds of his catches were first downs. That’s crazy.

Yes and yes!
With the sick weapons we have and the ability to run on any team in the league Patrick will be open!
Mentoring the young guys isnt as publicized but so important.

So excited for a new OC!
Dont get me wrong Johnson was a great play creator and designer, but an ego maniac…
Bet anything the offense is even more balanced and in control under Morton.
If Goff stays the course from the last 2 yrs trajectory the sky is the limit!

Every game is gonna be a fight like never before to keep us ontop of the NFC!

Go LIONS!

I think the players might mutiny if they cut Raymond. I’ve only heard praise for him and Amon Ra admires his work ethic.

The Lions already restructured Raymond’s deal in March…
reducing his base salary for 2025…
but also increhis guaranteed money…

which effectively guarantees he will make the roster.

You are 100% correct.
