Did Vikings find Their QB?

Hockenson thinks so…

Caleb Williams 2.0
We’re going to have to listen to this for the next 4 months.
A rookie, that couldn’t make it to the regular season last year?
If he’s more effective than Darnold, we (and the rest of the league) have a problem.
Seriously, what are the chances?

Like this is some sort of anything?? Rookie gets injured and water is wet. News at 11… BTW he missed 0 games at Michigan (out of 40) playing through a meniscus tear

This is the honeymoon period for all teams. Between FA and draft, every team is talking about how they got better.

JJ has succeed wherever he’s been. I think he will be fine in Minnesota but I expect there to be some growing pains. Darnold had a 102.5 QB rating. I don’t see McCarthy getting anywhere near that.

TJ is happy because young QB’s have a tendency to lean on TE’s.

I don’t watch college ball, so I have no emotional connection to this guy

Hope he flops

I wish him well in his next job.

Yea my twitter feed is full of Viking fans posting JJ highlights from high school and college. It’s the NFL. I’m a fan of his but let’s be honest about how Michigan won a national championship. They literally went to Penn State and beat them without throwing the ball in the second half. JJ might be great but there’s a pretty good chance he isn’t. It’s like the Bears fans with Caleb last year. Let the dude play some actual nfl games before we put him in theHOF.

Read the article……he now has an arm like Stafford? The legend continues to grow……

He’s a good guy who will work his ass for them, but he doesn’t have an arm like Stafford. It’s good enough, but it’s not elite. He’s not going to skip the growing pains. The thing he has going for him that most “rookies” don’t is a very, very talented supporting cast around him with good coaching. If he can’t succeed there, he’s not likely to be a starter in the league. We shall see

KOC is a pretty darn good offensive coach. That should really help JJ. I hate to admit that but KOC can coach and they have weapons. How good can JJ be? Not sure. But he’s in a pretty good situation.

:100: he’s in the best possible place with weapons……but until he’s actually done it he’s still got to prove it to me. So many great college players end up not being great in the NFL.

If you haven’t seen Matt throwing the football to some dude while playing golf……check it out. Staffords arm is one of the all time greatest.

Accuracy I think could be the hurdle for JJ…There were times at Michigan where he’d miss some guys running wide open.

So the author is so desperate for clicks he trolls lions fans to get them to read that hock literally says nothing controversial at all. JJ’s arm strength reminds him of his old qb stafford.

JEFFERSON Can make any qb look good. I bet Sam Darnold will be average qb again. I think JJ will be soild qb. Good coaching has some weapons around him

Going into last season before he got hurt, I thought JJ had a great opportunity to have the best rookie season of all those QBs drafted. I also didn’t realize Daniel’s was going to go nuts though lol.

Before he hurt his ankle, JJ had the best completion percentage in college football. He was known for being an accurate QB, with a strong arm and athleticism.

If he struggles, it will probably be with his decision making…like most young QB’s

I think context matters in this case. Stafford definitely has the stronger arm. Matt admitted that it took him some time in the league to understand he needed to take speed off of the ball, particularly to players in the short area passing game (like tight ends). When Hock was with Mr. Stafford, Matty had grown to the point where he was throwing what he considered a lighter pass to guys like Hock. JJ is still at the point of his career where he is trying to zip it and prove himself. So Mr. John Matthew Stafford’s “ease up” throws are highly comparable to JJ ripping it.

Hock just doesn’t have the same perspective that Calvin had when Stafford first came into the league and hadn’t adjusted yet.

well look when we first got Matt, pretty much all he did was throw/pass that football hard and fast as he could, I still remember different players talking about the heat on the football and catching a ball from Stafford stung their hands. over time Stafford had to learn how and when to throw the ball certain ways in different situations, and Matt had to lean how to put “touch” on the football, not just throw lazers…it was a long process for Stafford, yet he finally learned all that.

Did he “learn” or just got older and doesn’t throw as hard as he used to?

QB’s used to be considered old around 30. He’s 37 now.
