Teams 1 and 2 will play first, and the winner will advance to the NFC Championship game. Teams 3 and 4 will also play, and the winner of that match will face the loser of the game between Teams 1 and 2. The winner of this match will then play in the NFC Championship.
Now, let me give an example:
The Lions beat Philly, and Tampa beats the Rams. Then Tampa plays Philly, and Philly beats Tampa. After that, Detroit beats Tampa again.
In this scenario, there are no divisional winners, and seeding is based solely on total wins. I understand this system may not be popular because it allows fewer teams to qualify for the playoffs.
Again the current system is fine
If Minny played the same schedule as Lions one could project they finish 12-5
The weekly strength of teams, bye weeks, the fact that schedules are all over the place for all teams as far as who they play. And the whole concept is garbage.
Let me ask you this a different way.
Indiana had 1 loss. So in your book they get the 1 seed………divisions mean nothing……
The current format is almost perfect IMO
Well the system is not perfect but it is as good as you can set up due to all the variables. And I do love/hate the reseeding in playoffs
