Does Anybody Here Not Feel Lions Fans Are Being Gamed

The point is they had horrible ownership, a smaller media market and still made the Super Bowl.

Either way even in 2015 they weren’t some juggernaut media darlings that the NFL should prop up over the Lions.

I’m sure all these players and coaches want to intentionally lose. It’s a great way to get that next job.
Players want to look good on tape so the next team will give them a shot, but suddenly all these players agree to not try?
This is less believable than the flat earth theory.

This is one of the funnier threads I’ve read in years. It’s so different from past years when the ineptness of leadership, talent or organizational construction was enough to huddle the masses. Now we have stooped to black helicopter conspiracies with a side of general paranoia.

Jesus people, you’re better than this. You really think the powers that be huddle around secret tables to make sure certain teams are continually constructed like houses of tissue?

You must not remember much about the 2015 Cardinals. Maybe you should go back and watch All or Nothing - A season with the 2015 Arizona Cardinals to get a refresher!

The Super Bowl run the Cardinals went on was incredible. It was a 9-7 team that caught fire in the postseason. In the last 40 or so years, the Cardinals are one of the only outliers in the mary go round of the same teams going to the Super Bowl over and over again, or having some compelling reason why they suddenly popped up in the big game. The Chargers being another outlier.

Do I think the NFL puts its hand on the scale from time to time to get a more desirable outcome? Yes.

Wes at point in the game I feel like everyone has got their time to pop up and be an outlier for a year or two except us.

We like to think that as fans, but in reality that’s not what is happening. I did a post on it the other day. The same teams are playing eachother in the Super Bowl over and over again. We can try to fight to be one of the few outliers like the Chargers and Cardinals, or we are going to have to move the team or have a really compelling storyline in order to get there.

I not only agree but I think this year there has been an extra effort to steer the games to the desired outcome especially regarding the Packers. I believe based off of the immediate offseason hype and the continued hyperbole surrounding the Packers that the NFL for their 100th season is steering the games outcomes to try to ensure the goat versus the goat 1B matchup in the Super Bowl or in other words Brady vs Rodgers.

A large group of the Have Nots, if you will, should petition to move as a group to England. What could go together better than England and Lions?

I seriously believe the time has come to force a leveling of the playing field. The designated loser teams, if you will, force a complete change in the scheduling. Have each team in the NFC play every other team in the NFC once; same for AFC and get rid of stereotypical biased divisions. As part of the new CBA get rid of preseason games and add two more teams from each conference to the Play-Off system. If they can’t create a More Level Playing Field that way and maybe it’s time for the lower-level team’s owner billionaires to consider leaving the NFL and create their own rival League ala the AFL. Completely spitballing here but I believe it could create greater interest for those ‘designated loser teams’ and generate greater parity which has disappeared in this 21st century

Not sure why people think it is not a level playing field. Each team gets to spend the same amount of money. Each team has the same access to try to sign free agents. The draft favors the teams that lose more.
Sorry, but the same teams are always winning because 1.) they have better management 2.)they have better coaching 3). they have HOF/top of the line QBs. 4.) they have a winning culture/tradition or better location, etc…
There is a reason why teams like the Browns, Lions, Cardinals, Jets, etc. are usually bottom feeders.
