Does KOC still have COTY supporters on this forum?

Some seemed pretty sure he deserved it even if he lost to the Lions.
Hows about now?

He had NO answers these last two games and his amazing QB reclamation turned into an overripe Halloween pumpkin.

Feels like the Lions coaches showed everyone the road map on KOC’s offense. It would be pretty embarrassing to name him COTY now. It would be like giving the Super Bowl mvp award to a player from the losing team

Coach and Player of the year…needs to be included in playoff awards for sure brother

Kevin O’Connell did a hell of a job with the Vikings in 2024. Unfortunately, the clock hit midnight on 1/1/25 and there were still games left to be played for the season. 0-2 since midnight.

Coach Of a Thousand Yucks? That was the game thread in a nutshell.

It was bad officiating. Obviously!

I never felt he earned it but he is the favorite still. Which I find insane.

Dan has clearly done more with less. He’s lost nearly his entire defense. Swept the toughest division in football and went 8-0 on the road. All with a civilian QB. I’m mean come on what else does he need to do. Win a Superbowl?

Playoffs have zero to do with the award. The Vikings projected win total was 6.5. They finished with 14 wins. Of course KOC deserves coach of the year.

14-3 record with Sam Darnold as his QB. He’s got a legitimate claim for COTY.

I’d still give it to MCDC, but not by much.

Picture the Lions having Darnold as our QB instead of Jared Goff . . . here’s a tissue.

Same coach took them from 13 wins to 7 to 14. Is he just a random number generator?

Totally agree with your overall statement Air. But the choice of words for Goff seems negative here. Are you saying JG is pedestrian aka civilian? He’s been in the running for POY at times this year.

The Vikings were picked to finish in last place in pre-season projections so of course he is still in the conversation for COTY

Dan Campbell could make that work. Dan is not the QB coach that KOC is…but he is a culture guy that can bring the best out of a guy like Darnold.

How do the expectations of media persons affect the quality of a coaching performance? They were just wrong. Media error is extraneous to what actually happens on the Viking sideline.
Shouldn’t the ppl who picked the Vikings to finish last just get some sort of raspberry award, rather than somehow converting their myopia into credit for KOC.
He had 8 days after being thoroughly outcoached by Campbell, to prepare his team to handle a similar approach from the Rams, and came up with nothing!
At this point, COTY support for KOC is just stubbornness.

14 wins with Darnold at QB is still 14 wins with Darnold at QB. Its a regular season award which has already been decided.

The fact that KOC is a massive favorite in Vegas should be instructive. Lions fans are a little biased, and that’s OK.

If we had gotten to 14 wins with Darnold at QB the very same posters would be screaming that it’s impossible for any other coach to even be considered.

Where did you pick the Vikings to finish?

It’s Wayne Fontes. He wins with an easy schedule and loses when it’s a tough schedule.

Yes, he lost 3 games with Sam Darnold at QB. KOC should be praised for taking a career backup and succeeding in regular season!!

@Usi05 this. If anything these last two games should have reinforced that Darnold was a heavily flawed QB who held the ball too long and couldn’t compensate with quality reads when the blitz came or line struggled.

Keep in mind this wasn’t even the starter on the team.

The shittiness of the last two games actually makes me feel like KOC deserves it more. How in the world did they squeeze 14 wins out of that crap?
